My Rac 2000. 2013
I have had my rac 2000 for some 18 months now, and although I do not use it much,
when I have it has performed very well, and has not led me to strange places,
it is accurate and I use a female voice which does not get on my nerves.
the only thing that bothers me, I that I cannot charge it up on my computer, as I have lost the disk, if there ever was one to set up a charging programme etc.
otherwise I generally leave it in the car on charge,(hidden) of course.
I am very happy with it. it was very inexpensive, compared to two others I have had, and they did not serve me well.
cheers john W.

Absolute Waste Of Money And A Big Disappointment.
Absolute waste of money and a big disappointment. It appears Everything that could go wrong with this system has gone wrong, the on off button broke, system shut down completely, cradle broke, charger refused to work even after fuse change, now finally the internal speaker has broke and i have been told its beyond repair. The customers services mananger further added insult to injury by stating that my formal letter of complaint was copied from "somehere", insinuating i was unable to write a proffessional letter ! What a waste of time and money along with patronising evasive customer service ! Its not worth the one star i have awarded it !

Bought An Rac 200 Gps July 2008, Discovered The Ma
Bought an RAC 200 GPS July 2008, discovered the map is dated December 2006 (so maps created during 2006) and told I will have to pay £30 +vat for updated maps (from 2007 - so may be dated dec 2007).
Because I travel around quite a bit I finally bit the bullet & thought I'd buy a satnav rather than rely on printing out close-up maps & directions off the internet.
What a waste of money.
So far (2 weeks), I've discovered 6 postcodes that cannot be found.
Interestingly, the RAC internet route planner gave me directions to each one yet the satnav - with the same map & software - couldn't find the postcode (or street in 4 cases).
According to the helpline, this must be user error as the postcodes show on their units - but the unit isn't faulty as it found many other postcodes...

The Rac 200 Sat Nav Is A Cheap But Well Made Sat N
The RAC 200 sat nav is a cheap but well made sat nav. It has some nice features, like a very good search system, with full post code search and street name search, but also has fuzzy search, fuzzy search acts a little like a Internet search engine. Its easy to use, which is good as the manual is not very good at all, having said that, full instructions are on the cd. Despite it having a entry level size screen, the quality is just as good as some sat navs that are more than twice the price. Speed Camera updates are free.
Battery life is average for a sat nav, but i feel its to short at around 3 hours.
When switched on for the very first time it takes around 5-10 mins to find the satellites. But every time you switch it on after it only takes 1 or 2 mins, then it takes around a min to sort itself out. But after its solid and is very good at getting you around, only twice has it failed to take me to my destination, once was the estate i was trying to find was only just finished, and the second was it did not find the right house, it was only off by 10 meters.
So overall a good cheap sat nav, but its not quite as good as some better ones, because it does not have bluetooth etc. But it is a good A 2 B unit. My mate has one, and his was having a little trouble finding satellites, this is because of his cars screen construction, so he bought a Ariel for it for 5 pound, it transformed his sat nav, it now finds satellites very quickly [faster than mine], and all is well now, so if you are having trouble finding satellites and trouble with routing then a cheap mcx antenna will probably fix it.

My First Rac200 Sat Nav Was Returned In 2 Days To
My first RAC200 sat nav was returned in 2 days to the shop. It didnt pick up any sattelites. It may have been a returned satnav as it had already been used! And had all sorts of info on it that was not mine.
However, I must say that my NEW RAC200 has been picking up 5 sat's, picks its signal up again when lost on it's own and is accurate to 25 metres.
This information is a mixed bag but in general so far I am pleased with my new toy.
Just to let you all know the outcome of my findings, the RAC lives up to the job as a reliable tool.
It sometimes takes a few minutes to lock on to satellites but once it does it never looses connectivity.
The sounds can get annoying if you have to many POI's activated with sound.
Battery life although not great is acceptable and as there is an in-car charger supplied so does not give you to much of a problem.
(Tip) charge your unit via a usb cable plugged in to a laptop or PC as it will be quicker than in the car.
Overall it gets 100%
Q&A
How can I get a user manual for the RAC 200 Satnav and why is it impossible to find in a general google search?
How do I change from small to large case when putting in post code?
