I Went Through 3 Antennas At $15 To $19 Each For M
I went through 3 antennas at $15 to $19 each for my Motorola V60 before I did a little research and got smart. Take the back cover off the phone, remove the base of your broken off antenna. Take a piece of speaker wire from your home stereo approx. 5 inches long. Strip just the insulation off the end so you see nice shiny copper wire. Mess up the strands so it looks like spaghetti. Jam this into the hole where your antenna base used to be. Run it under the back cover so that when the cover is snapped into place it holds the wire. Notice the 5 bars where you used to get 2 or 3? Now you can replace your own antenna with a new one in 5 minutes if you ever break it again. Once I started doing this every six months or so, I have greatly enjoyed the phone. However, I will never ever in this lifetime allow myself or anyone I know to purchase another Motorola product due to the complete lack of support on this phone. Speaking with customer service regarding fixing this problem was less useful than screaming at Half-Dome because at least when you're screaming at a blank rock cliff you get an echo.....

My Husband And I Purchased Motorola V60's Because
My husband and I purchased Motorola V60's because of the small selection that AT&T offered in their stores. We also selected these phones because we needed national coverage and at the time 3/19/04 the new GSM service would not offer the same vase coverage. We were stuck with basically one choice. Less than 7 months after our purchase this phone is discontinued in their stores. (There is a real shocker!)
Less than a week ago, I spoke with a friend that has had three of these phone. All of which have lost their antennas. No sooner did I hear about this antenna issue did I experience it myself. There was no dropping the phone or mishandling of the phone. I simply picked it up off my dresser one morning and the antenna just feel off. I had noticed it was becoming loose but I did not expect it to just drop off. (HINT: Should you notice your antenna getting loose take it in right away so that they don't claim that your broke it off from dropping your phone and created physical damage.)
I pulled my paper work and returned to the AT&T store. To no avail the incompetent minimum wage employee was unable to offer any solution. I could of course purchase a new phone all together or purchase a temporary phone and ship this one off. Neither option was something I was willing to be pressured into. The sad part about the entire visit to the store was that the manager on duty didn't even come over to offer some assistance. Very poor customer service. (That location was on Abernathy Road in Atlanta, GA. BEWARE!)
I agree with the comments I have read on this site. I would only recommend this phone to someone I really did not like. Motorola and AT&T offer very very poor customer service. They do not honor their warrantees on their products.

I Love The Durablity Of The V60 's Body. I Am A C
I love the durablity of the V60 's body. I am a cell phone abuser...........I destroyed two star-tacs in 6 months. Most other phones would have desintegrated under my wrath. I have been pounding on the same V60 for more than 2 years with barely a scratch. (what the hell is this thing made of?)
The telescoping antenna is the only real flaw. Luckilly they are easy and cheap to replace. (my verizon store charges 5 bucks for the 30 second procedure).

Maybe I'm A Dumb Ol' Geek.. I Have Never Had A Pro
Maybe I'm a dumb ol' geek.. I have never had a problem with my Motorola V60's fixed antenna...Of course I have yet to throw it across the room or use it for a dodge ball..The phone has been good to me for over 2 years now....I could use another battery at this point as it will not retain its charge as long as it used too...Great Phone.

The Motorola V60 Phone Has 2 Antenna Options, Fixe
The Motorola V60 phone has 2 antenna options, fixed (AT&T) and extendable (Verizon / Cingular). The extendable antenna is very fragile and breaks off easily, average life 1-6 months. Replacement cost is $15-20, parts are usually available locally. The fixed antenna won't break, the phone breaks instead and must be shipped to Texas for repair with or without warranty, for approx. 4 weeks since Motorola will not supply repair parts to repair shops or to owners. I repeat, Motorola absolutely refuses to supply or sell repair parts in or out of warranty. The phone must be shipped to Texas. If you have an extended warranty you can pay the $25-35.00 deductable and get a replacement phone immediately. If you are very careful and lucky you can get by with only $50-70.00 a year in repairs with the extended warranty or be without a phone for a month at a time. I've owned my AT&T version V60 for over a year now. I tried switching to the extendable antenna to be able to get repair parts locally but motorla wont't cover the parts under warranty since the phone came with the fixed antenna. I've broken 3 extendable antennas and broken the phone twice with the fixed antenna. The broken part is easy to replace but Motorola refuses to supply the part. My wife has the same phone and has broken hers 4 times now. I have written and emailed Motorola regarding a flexible antenna or design change but have never received a response. I wouldn't reccomend this phone to anyone I like. I know 9 V60 owners, they all hate the antenna problem, otherwise it would be a good phone.
My solution to the V60 antenna problem is this: remove the back cover. Remove the old antenna base. Take a piece of wire from your home stereo speaker, strip off 1/2 inch of the insulation so you see the copper strands. Mess up the copper strands so they look like spaghetti. Shove the mess into the nice gold colored area where the antenna base used to be. Loop the wire so that when you put the back cover back on it captures the wire. about 4 inches is an optimal length to have sticking out when you're done. This arrangement lasts two to six months depending on how much I use the phone. It takes me less than 5 minutes to make another antenna when my home-built ones eventually break through too much bending around. I get 5 bars now with my home-built antenna where I used to get 3 with the original antenna. I resorted to this after my 3rd antenna purchase for this phone. I treated it like the $400 jewel it was, yet I still found broken antennas very frequently.

I Love The Light Weight And Attractive Design That
I love the light weight and attractive design that the Motorola V60 mobile phone has. I love the smart button feature and when you learn to use it, it changes everything. The only bad thing is that the antenna broke off after a few months. I went and bought an antenna of the market with a little light on it and it worked wonders. It made the phone look even more attractive.

The First Generation Motorola V60's Received Incom
The first generation Motorola V60's received incoming email and reproduced the sender's address, subject and so much of the text as the carrier forwarded. However, the new V60 color truncates the entire text field. Unless a sender uses a subject that conveys the entire message, it is NEVER received. Worse, the phone rejects some incoming messages entirely and I've yet to figure out what causes this. I'm going back to my first generation V60; it was more reliable as a business tool

Unfortunately I Bought Two Phones. Antenna Breaks
Unfortunately I bought two phones. Antenna breaks on both. I have an impression that this poor design was made on purpose. After you ruine one phone go buy another one. Shame on you motorolla designers.
If Your Sick Of Buying New Antennas, Or Supergluin
If your sick of buying new antennas, or supergluing yours back on, or just need a temp.... Just stick a piece of thick speaker wire in there (about a inch long) leave the insulation on except the tip you put in,. It works great.
