The Samsung Duos D880 Is Not The Best Phone But It

The Samsung DuoS D880 is not the best phone but it's good if you are keeping one local SIM card and one card on international roaming.

Wanted Dual Sim Because I Work Abroad And Having T

Wanted dual sim because I work abroad and having two phones is a pain, but it is better than this pos! Would rather have two Nokia phones than this Samsung DuoS D880,hope to god Nokia bring one out soon. Can't get used to Samsung and constant rebootes when you swap sims.

The Main Problem With This Samsung Duos D880 Phone

The main problem with this Samsung DuoS D880 phone is the quality of the second line,it is much poorer/weaker than first line, using bluetooth headset or car kit? then forget the second line there will be no volume. This is well known fault, other than that its a nice phone although the price is high for quality of build, great idea but flawed..

Nice Combination Of The 2 Sims. I Am Currently Usi

Nice combination of the 2 sims. I am currently using the Samsung DuoS D880 because I can get some advantages with mobifone and vinaphone in Vietnam at the same time.I have to say the camera's photos in enough light are in great quality that can be compared with 3MP from Sony Ericsson. The sliding mechanism is not bad, overall quality is acceptable and worth the price.Battery life without using camera and music player is really good like my expectation - around 3 days - just 10 short calls, 20 sms and occasionally taking 1-3 photos a day.Clever phonebook and easy-to-use other pre-installed apps.Nice leather back cover.

No flash. Can't install my favourite apps (Most of them are for Windows Mobile and Symbian...hic). The front cover will fade and get ugly after just a few months.Just support maximum 2GB Micro SD. The phone need to be restarted to make calls or send sms from the other of the 2 currently installed sims.

Anyway I'm satisfied with the Samsung DuoS phone and its function of handling 2 sims. You will get what you pay for!

I Did Have Good Use Of Its Dual Sim Feature. Not R

I did have good use of its dual sim feature. Not really into gadget special feature so that shouldn't be a problem for me and that goes the same for battery life, most of the time my phone is simply on standby mode to wait for calls or messages so battery power is basically unused even for long hours. For a simpler lifestyle I guess this piece is good enough.

I've Bought This Model Just For The Dual Sim Capab

I've bought this model just for the dual sim capability in order to take advantage from the different pricing policies between mobile phones companies.

The quality of the material is not the best but is quite acceptable. The battery cover could be much more stiff and firm. I've realised that it has a very good camera in daylight shots. The camera mode is activated really fast in this model. The camera functions are plenty and very useful. As with most mobile phones the shots in dark place are poor. Its menus are very simplified and easy. I find very good the calendar and the internet browser. In addition if you install the java opera mini 4.1 you'll have a very powerful browser, compatible with nearly every site in internet.

What I find in general bad is the battery consumption. Under a mediocre usage I've to charge it at least every two days. However there are some solutions about that.

Firstly try lowering the brightness of the screen and enable a short period of time for the dim function. Disable the brightness in keypads as long as you don't really need it.

Secondly if you really don't want both sims activated at all times is easy to deactive one of them without rebooting the phone, such a thing will prolong the battery life at least one day.

Thirdly the radio FM and the Gprs especially with the use of java Opera mini 4.1 will drain the battery after a few hours.

Fourthly avoid the permanent activation of Bluetooth for the use of wireless headset. Use the wire headset instead and by deactiving the Bluetooth you'll save much power.

The policy of Samsung is to use different batteries for nearly every model in order to make the use of no name batteries difficult. Such a thing is really inconvenient since the phone under normal use don't have big stamina and the need of spare battery is imminent. I guess the reason of the low battery duration is its size, which is relatively very small for the size of the phone.

Something else I find annoying is that when I connect the phone to PC in mass storage mode I can't receive or make phone calls.

The maximum size of microSD that operates normally is 2 Gbytes and that is really very low when there is in the market High Capacity microSD of 8 Gbytes reasonably priced. Also is impossible to change microSD cards without turning off the phone since it's situated behind the battery.

The media player of the phone is very basic but not bad at all and it plays mp3 and 3g videos.

The size of phone is quite big but is reasonable since it operates constantly with two different sims.

Keep in mind the only the first sims provide full mobile services at three band mode. The second sim is in only dual band mode and offer only phone call and sms. So be careful at the first installation of sims. The side button for selecting instantly the sim you need is really good.

If you ignore the dual sim function it's much overpriced with similar single sim mobile phones. Nevertheless is very reasonably priced an I'd say unique with the constant dual sim support it offers.

Nice Phone. Easy To Use And Good Quality! Good Loo

Nice phone. Easy to use and good quality! Good looking phone with nice and easy features. Somebody wrote that you need to switch between primary sim if you want to make phonecalls or write text messages from the other simcard. That's not true. You can use both simcards at the same time. You can switch between very easily when you select the person who you want to call and press the small button on the leftside of the phone to select your simcard.

Had a bit of a problem to find out were I could find my ringtones and stuff. Also the manual that comes with the phone is a bit poor. Only German and English

I Am Really Disappointed The Samsung Duos D880, As

I am really disappointed the Samsung DuoS D880, as it failed to live up to my expectations. While recieving text and calls from both SIMS is a plus, I wish I could have made calls and send text messages from either SIM as easy. Very sad as I have spent a lot of money on this product. It's been a waste of money

I Was Lead To Believe That This Phone Was A True T

I was lead to believe that this phone was a true Tri-band phone, but I recently discovered that only the primary SIM slot supports Tri-band, while the secondary only works on European networks. Good if you often travel to Europe. Bad if you want to take advantage of the DUOS functionality in the USA, or the Latin-American market.

Will have to wait for the SGH-D980, which will be Tri-band for both SIM cards.
