Do not buy this phone! Within 3 days the screen started sticking and when you try to press an icon on the screen, another one would be activated, making it impossible to select what you want!

The battery life was very poor too in comparison with every other phone I've ever had.

Google searched 'samsung pixon m8800 screen problem' and found so many people having the same trouble.

Took it back to argos after 8 days for a full refund and bought a better phone that actually works properly!

I Got This Phone With Orange Over A Year Ago, And

I got this phone with Orange over a year ago, and i am pretty disapointed. i have always tried to find products that stray from the mainstream, and this presented itself as a possible ipod contender. the advertising really pushed it, and its featreus seemed to be quite plentiful. however, over time several things have surfaced which means i will not be going near samsung phones again.

Firstly, Orange. I like Orange, i like the company, i like their cinema 241 wednesday, i even like the adverts you see at the movies... but ultimately they are a network provider, and on my 45 miles drive to work there were no less than 10 drop out point! and im not driving through remote areas, i went from south bucks, round the M25, on to the A1 north. this is as close to london as you can get without being in it. So reception has been poor. Vodafone always had good reception, but poor ustomoer service and prices lead me to leave them.

Next, the screen. After a while, the screen is scratched up and looks awful. i am the sort of person who looks after things as best i can, cases, soft pouch, whatever it needs. my Microsoft Zune still looks new after 2 years due to its perfect soft case i keep it it. The screen touch response is not very good, and i would advise anyone that has used an iphone/ipod touch to not even try this phone, you will hate it. The screen is also fairly flexible, and i find myself having to grow a nail longer than normal to use as a stylus, as this phone has a LOOOSE stylus, nowhere to slot in to the phone, you can atach it to the phone, but them you phone loots like a make up kit. The resolution is poor, colours are limited, it was like going back a few years after using the sony k800i which boasted a great quality screen.

The WORST thing about this phone is support. there have been no firmware updates, the New PC Studion software is buggy and if you try to download it again from the samsung site, the link appears to be broken, still, after a year! I emailed samsung with my annoyance at this, and a week later, i received an amil from them telling me i contacted customer service when i should have contacted Technical Support..... unbelievable.

The widgets are like apps from the past. if you compare a widget to an app, its like comparing the first nintendo entertainment system to an xbox 360... they are worlds apart, and there are hardly any new ones in the last year.

Another low point for the Pixon isn the Accelerometer. if you browse pictures, you better hold the phone straight, if you dont, the pictures start scrolling madly to the side, and it takes a lot of effort to return to where you left of. people think i am touchy about letting people hold my phone, but i explain if i hand it over, the pic im shwing will have gone.

Ring level is nowhere near loud enough. if you are in an environment that has any sound, forget hearing it ring unless you set an massively annoying ringtone. thie same goes for the loud speaker when speaking to someone, just not loud enough.

The camera is good.

battery life is good if you dont use the phone.

the video camera is alright.

i received an ipod touch as a gift for Christmas, and now i find it very very hard to use my phone... I might go back to mu old K800i for a phone, i am so tired of this phone. I will get a new iphone come the next july release.

I Got This Phone Back In January And Got A Really

I got this phone back in January and got a really good deal on Orange. I am still really happy with this phone, I think it looks nice (I got the pink), it is easy to use and the camera is really really good (i took a photo of my cat, and the quality was incredible). I have never bothered to use a protective case or sock for it, and it was only last week that I first scratched the screen - which I think is quite good going.

I do think the battery life isn't the best, as I have to recharge it every night wheras my previous samsung would be fine with being charged every other night.

How Many Of Those Reviewers Have Got It Right Abou

How many of those reviewers have got it right about the Pixon! it's a terrible phone to use. It's screen is shocking in sunny conditions. It's virtually impossible to see the screen never mind read text or compose them. I've tried everything possible to change the contrast but all to no avail.

The dictionary is also full of rubbish words that you will never use and can't be deleted. You can't simply insert an apostrophe either, as one previous reveiwer mentioned. The apostrophe stays with some words but not others so in the end you don't bother using it. And to toggle between caps and lower case is a nightmare-infact texting is a nightmare!

The hold button will keep going on automatically, even when it's not on auto. It's software is awful too. I've had a software message and was told to update the firmware, so I tried using the phones own software and usb cables, only to be given the message 'Devise not supported'! the software had found the phone so why this stupid message!?!?

It's bulky too-too big for one handed use but too small for two.

Plus, as previously mentioned, the useless widgets that are there by default, meaning you can't get rid of them. Why have a link to go online AND another for Yahoo?? the misuc players another default widget along with Events-which no ones knows how to use-not even Samsung!

The speaker play back on my videos is shocking! so much so you can't watch the vids at all. and you have to have the camera on basic settings to work the flash-I found out after it not going off! so bad photos.

The only thing half decent is its reception and speaking on it.

It's not too bad either for browsing the net-but if you want full screen you're left with an annoying onscreen symbol that can't be moved, plus I've hit the bookmarked icons, but it's activated the full screen instead.

To say I'm very dissapointed is putting it mildy and wished I'd stayed with Nokia.

Its Difficult To Text On The Samsung Pixon, Becaus

Its difficult to text on the Samsung Pixon, because all the buttons are so close, and if often turns into the QWERTY keyboard when you don't want it to!If you accidently change the language it saves what you wrote in your predictive text and stays there. You can't save all words with apostrophe for some reason?!Screen scratches easily and it doesn't come with a case so I use an iPod sock to protect it.

I don't have any problems with the battery. My battery can last for a couple of days without being charged, same as any other phone I've had.

Samsung Pixon M8800: Clunky Interface, Pim Which T

Samsung Pixon M8800:

Clunky interface, PIM which truncates all tasks and calendar items to 13 characters, media player which lists tracks in reverse order so live albums for example start with the artist saying goodbye, screen scratches very easily, pc studio interface software crashes after every use, irritating bleep every minute on phone which apparently can't be switched off, handsfree/headphones too long to be used together but headphones to short to be used on their own, other headphones plugged into the handsfree socket don't work properly, file explorer interface is rubbish in my opinion and takes ages to navigate, so many images and ringtones that you can't delete, vibration doesn't always work when my phone rings even if switched on, delete one recurring task and it deletes the lot, all contacts without email addresses get populated with one at random so 87 contacts with same email address, support for Samsung on PC Studio crashing hopeless, I think the text interace is awful to use, create groups in PC Studio and sync to phone but they don't get carried across, deleted all my Outlook tasks and calendar items in one go, inserted events in random dates so my wedding anniversary appears in June (right) August, September and February. Camera difficult to use, it seems you can't switch flash on for example unless you have a degree in applied electronics. I could go on, so I will: collection of widgets in side bar most of which I never use but can't get rid of, dials randon numbers on its own, signal strength on Orange rubbish, touch screen needs the dexterity of a concert pianist so if you have fingers more than 2MM wide you're stuffed, auto lock feature drives me nuts, media player downloads album art displays in once and then doesn't display it all.

upgraded from Orange SPV M5000 because it was too big to lug around especially in summer but I think this is hopeless and all the features I had in the m5000 have gone with 100% more frustration. Unless you're a teenager with no need to use a PIM (that's a personal information manager to you and me) and you don't mind all your music tracks being in reverse order and you can put up with rubbish headphones and handsfree and you have a degree in electronics engineering then this is for you.

Overall The Samsung Pixon M8800 Is A Good Phone Wi

Overall the Samsung Pixon M8800 is a good phone with good camera easy to use, and plenty of little things in the camera to mess around with. Good camera and love the way you just move across the camera to view your pics. Very simple and easy of use is very good also.

Just like everyone the battery life is not the best so get an in car charger, that fixes that problem, not sure if this is just me but I'm trying to get sat nav but all I've found is google maps.

1
sunter18

The Pixon does not have sat nav capability. Using Google Maps the closest i have been is within 1600 metres of my actual position. Samsung are aware but as far as i know are not planning to offer any firmware update in the near future. Other than that a great cameraphone
