Sony CMD-J6

i've had this Sony CMD-J6 phone for years no probs

When I saw the Sony CMD-J6 in the shop I thought that it was an excellent purchase packed full of features, how ever after only a few days with the phone I quickly began to hate it. My first problem arose with the charger, it took mins of fiddling for the charger to deliver power to the phone and it then seemed to stop and start charging at random. I brought the phone back to the store only to wait for 10 days for the phone to be repaired only to arrive back with the same problem, in the end they had to replace the charger with that of a different model as it would't work with anything else. Next the texting was faulty always showing a message not sent when in fact the message would have delivered. Then any time I entered the word "weekend" the phone would automatically turn off, In the end I cut my looses and again bought a Siemens which is a little heavier but has never given me any problems, I bought a Sony due to brand quality and realibity only to be left down, Ericsson and Sony are by far the worse manufacturer of phones combined they must be a disasterous combination. Take my advice and stick to the Germans and Siemens.

The Sony CMD-J6 is the best and most user friendly mobile phone ever made (and I've had loads!). There is no quicker phone to text on, and that includes all the latest models. If you don't need pop3 email and are happy to leave the cameras and colour screens to the kids, AND (crucially) you hold the phone in your left hand, this phone is THE BUSINESS. I love mine and wouldn't swap it for any other phone.

The Sony J6 was the best phone i think that i have had out of the old phones even if it was a bit tall with a rubbish battery and i think the graphics and games are wicked

I bought my CMD-J6 almost one year ago for £80. After a few seconds test driving the unit in the store it soon became apparant that it was the most user friendly phone I'd ever handled. Some right-handed folk have complained about the jog dial on the left side, but I find it suits me perfectly. I'm right-handed and am able to use the phone perfectly well with my left hand, scrolling through options with my thumb and selecting them by pressing the jog wheel. The reception on Vodafone has been excellent, only ever experiencing difficulty in the most remote of locations. The four games are poor at best, almost pointless in fact, but the remaining features make for good value. The absence of any normal ring tones is a bit irritating, and the vibrate function is quite weak, but WAP capability, a global map with international dialing codes and time zones and a digital recording function prove useful, especially for travellers. At time of writing the J6 has been superseded by the J7, an equally attractive phone with the added joy of having no protruding aerial to poke you in the groin when you sit down, or turn removal of the unit from a coat pocket into a Crypton Factor challenge. By now you'd be hard pressed to find a J6 in the shops, but the J7 can probably be picked up for £60-£70, making it very good value.

Sony J6 is really cute and light weight instrument. I like its features and usages. When I see it lying on the desktop of my friend I decide to purchase brand new J6 instrument.

Only limitation is ringer. It's Ringer is very slow. You are not able to hear ring when you are on the road.

Well, i've got a sony J6 for about 4 days and i can't stop looking at it ... it's so beatiful !! The jog dial and the slider are really a genious thought, it's comfortable when you use the left hand, but for righthand it's not that easy. The worse in the phone is the vibration, which is not a real vibration but a sound, that the people can not hear; the low ringtones volume and that vibration and ringtone can not be used at the sametime ...

But except that the telephone is really cool, the best i've ever seen, and i've seen a lot

I find this phone a very easy phone to use, it's simple way of locking the phone is ingenious, the graphics of the menu system are great, sure things have moved on since this phone was released but thats natural progression... it's scroll technology on the side of the phone to make your way around the menus is great, i'd recommend buying this phone....the only down sides I have with mine is that the battery power of mine isn't great and I find myself recharging it quite a lot, but I think that is just a fault with my battery as I have friends who have the same phone and they don't recharge it for days....

Another is the volume of the ringers, when it's out of your pocket then they have a really loud ringer, but in your pocket it is muffled quite alot and is hard to hear, then you switch it to vibrate, I find the vibrate handy but it isn't as strong as other phones. What I will say is you can feel it enough not to miss calls...

It is a nice handy phone and worth a purchase

The problem with my Sony CMD-J6 mobile phone started with the jog dial; date and time automatically resets on switching off and on;

Talk time and standby time has deteriorated.

The Sony CMD-J6 mobile phone is really cool. It is not too small, but you'll never say that it is big, so it is a great phone for a man. It weighs only 82g, which is really nice. The battery life is good enough - about 3 days (I don't turn it off). If you have a good personal style, I'm sure you don't like those pop Nokia (32**, 33**,...) phones, but you'll love this Sony phone. The display is amayzing. You may use the wallpapers in the phone, but you can download yours (if you have a data cable). The menu is very easy and it's well made. I didn't really like the sound volume, but I think that this concept is really great (using a speaker) only they have to develope it. I use the speakerphone bigtime and don't have problems with the quality. What about the phonebook? 700numbers (500-phone and 200-sim) - is that bad? And you may right 3 numbers for each person, ph and don't forget about the 2 spaces for the address, e-mail... Yeah, I may continue my speach, but there are too many things that impressed me. And all this for an almost budget phone... I just wanted to say that this phone is really COOOOL!!!

I used once the Nokia 3310 and Siemens S35i, but they don't have the right to be compared with the Sony J6.
