Sony Ericsson W580i

A fantastic phone that has lasted more than it's fair share of time, I have used it for nearly a year and my friend owned it for a few years before me.

I have had it unlocked and on my different networks and the signal on all of them has been great especially since the t-mobile/orange merger.

The only problem I have with the phone now is that the speakers are starting to die but after 2-3 years+ of phone ownership that is acceptable.

my dad bought this phone and at first i thought it was the best phone ever. a few moths in the buttons all snapped in half, the hash key fell off the top left hand button stopped working and the lights on the side didnt match. it also kept crashing freezing and saying insert sim. my friend had this phone also her phone snapped in half.

before i made the purchase i should of known it wasn't fit to be sold and im thinking of informing trading standards.

im writing a letter to both sony ericsson and orange and im informing watchdog at bbc

Worst phone I've ever owned. Whenever I slide it open, will get either vertical color bars, mirrored screensaver and graphics, or flashing white/black screen. Have to turn off and on, or remove battery, several times to get it corrected. Numerous times will have "no connection to network" message and again will have to turn off/on to reset. Will slide phone open to find that it is attempting to connect to MEdia Net even though keys are supposed to be locked while the phone is closed.

Only positives are that camera resolution is decent, and FM radio/MP3 player has good quality sound.

Apparently these problems, based upon reviews left on AT&T's and other sites, are prevalent with the entire Sony line.

I bought this phone one year ago. After the first month, it did not work well so ATT sent me a refurbished one. In one year, I have had 4 of these phones and now need a new phone because the screen is not working properly. It happen a day after the one year warranty.

The Sony Ericsson W580i is one of the best sony ericsson phones around thats smart to look at and use. using m2 memory cards up to 2gig . 1.3 mp camera . bluetooth and mp3 player . no 3g just gprs . this phone is a slide up phone showing the keys when in up postion . you can set the colour lights to flash when text or call is inbound . making it ideal on night time when your sleeping or looking after a baby etc . my phone was on vodafone which the software was great no bugs at all reported . shame i lost it when shopping . if you can get one cheap you be happy its a great phone.

I am on a 2 year contract with orange , I have just had it over a year & (by a few days) a month or so before the years warranty, the sony ericsson w580i started to muck up. Everytime i went onto my pictures the screen would go all funny and break, if it didnt play up on the pics it would break everythin else. So i took it back to the shop where i baught it from and they said send it off to the repair. Because it was under a year it would be free bar the p&p. So i sent it off , a week later i got it back and it was fine for a week or so and then it is now all magnified and broke. a diferent problem from the start. I am not happy with this phone at all, 1 problem after another. Tomorow i am going to get this phone sorted. I do not recomend this phone to anyone.

The Sony Ericsson W580i was great for the first few MONTHS but has been sent for repair twice!!!! thought it would last but noo!

I like the Sony Ericsson W580i alot, i've had it for 2 days. i love the walkman feature, but the shake n shuffle feature and the ftness program don't work, so i have to send it back and get it fixed. i am running vista on my pc, it will not recognise the phone through usb cable, so i had to put music on using bluetooth, which takes forever.camera has no flash, making picture quality not very good unless in good lighting already

Sony Ericsson W580i is piece of crap! complicated!! ackward to use, all bad.

not to mention terrible workmanship, mine is already missing a button and i have not dropped it.

The Sony Ericsson W580i is rubbish. I had replace after three months after purchasing because it was completely dead and didn't turn on. SlideLooks nice
