Will Not Charge - Therefore Does Not Clean My Teeth

I have had my professional brush now for 3 years. Although not used it for several months as the battery will no longer charge.

I kept meaning to work out how to open it up to see what type of replacement battery I need.

I could not work it out so thought I would sear h online to find that it is useless and Oral b have not manufactured replacements.

What??????? Would never have spent £200 on this had I known. I don't think of cleans any better than my partners £30 brush. I could have had 6 of them for the money I wasted on this item!!

He wad going to buy me a new one. No way. But I would have brought a £10 battery.

Versatile toothbrush. Works really good for me. Its rechargable feature appeals greatly to me.

Great Toothbrush, But Don't Need The Smart Guide

I love my Triumph 9900 and have noticed that my teeth are much whiter now.

I recommend buying the model without the smart guide as it is just a glorified timer which you only tend to use once.

Also lookout for special deals on Boots where you can earn bonus points too.

Rechargeable Battery Cannot Be Replaced

I'll simply echo some other reviews on here. Yes, the product does a good job of cleaning your teeth. BUT, mine lasted only two and a half years before the rechargeable battery just died. Apparently this cannot be replaced and the whole unit needs to be binned. What a waste - of technology and money. It is surely not beyond Braun's wit to devise a way to replace this battery which, it would appear from other reviews here, seems to have a far shorter life than you might expect.

Fair Comment - Tommygun.

...but the two products you mentioned, I would certainly expect to last out much longer a the price you paid for them as opposed to the Braun.. I think it also reflects how well you have taken care of your TV, hi fi and Washing Machine. . On reflection, I think you may well be right Braun should have built the product to accommodate a replacement battery

TommyGunn04

Mmm. Not so sure. .Two and a half years is nothing. For instance, I have a Panasonic TV still going strong after 10 years; a Hotpoint washing machine working happily after 20; a hi-fi system still entertaining me after 30 years....

My experience with Braun means that I won't be buying one of their products again (when I WOULD have bought a battery), so I'm not sure how that is helping their business.

johnwataboy

Braun just like any other company that make products like this, deliberately do not make them to last. If they did, they would soon be out of business. The cost of their products is based on their factory tried and tested lifetime use. Si is not so much Braun, it is more or less every manufacturer.

Braun Scam

The brush is intentionally overpriced at £150+ then the retailer knocks the price down & Braun offer £15 discount but put in the small print proof of postage in not proof of receipt for the offer!!!

I will not buy or recommend Braun products to anyone again as the company are a bunch of con-men.

As for the brush it is probably as good as a Philips brush, but you are being ripped off with the price & offers also u can't replace the rechargeable battery, so what is it costing to run this thing also with the exorbitant price of replacement heads that need changing ever couple of weeks.

Stick to a cheap discounted toothbrush if u have to have electric, then u can throw them away. Better still use a manual brush costing u less than the price of a Braun replacement head& think of the calories burned using a manual brush plus the saving on electricity.

Remember who you are dealing with Braun did not honour my £15 discount voucher even though I sent it recorded, kept a copy of the reciept, bought 3 packs of there special toothpaste & 8 replacement heads.

The only reason I can think is because I got a discount off Boots but that was a boots promotion not Braun & I still paid over £100

I wrote this review a month ago and I have had to eat my words. so it's only fair I update this. (I would remove it if I knew how)

Braun has paid out on the offer, I recieved the cheque today a little late but it arrived. So I am here eating humble pie and thinking over the month of using the brush I have grown quite attached to it, wether it's worth the full asking price is debatable but I must admit its growing on me.

Good Brush But Short Lifespan As Battery Cannot Be Replaced.

I have had an Oral-B Triumph electric toothbrush for nearly three years now. It is by far and away the most expensive toothbrush I have ever owned and it does an execellent job of cleaning my teeth. The smart guide is a really useful add-on to help with the disipline of brushing for long enough each day.

The is a big "But" however. Once the battery will not hold its charge you must throw the toothbrush away as Braun says the battery cannot be replaced. My battery started to loose it ability to hold charge after about two years and now I need to keep it on continuous charge in order to use it. For a brush that cost over £100.00 this is a terrible design feature and an even worse way to treat a customer. What Braun have done is to create a 3 year lifespan on a product that should last at least 5-10 years (as my old electric toothbrush did)

If you don't mind having to replace your £100 toothbrush every 3 years then this is a great product. If like me you expect you electric toothbrush to last a little longer then look elsewhere.

I Just Got This Brush 2 Weeks Ago.. It Was The Mos

I just got this brush 2 weeks ago.. It was the most expensive toothbrush I have ever purchased. But on clearance at CVS for $4.99, I think it was worth the cost.

So far, I already have improvement on the feel of my gums, and the teeth are noticeably whiter.. 5 stars on this purchase.. That is until I have to buy new brush heads.. ;))

Firstly The Pros: It Does Provide An Ex

Firstly the pros:

It does provide an excellent clean and the small head reaches between the teeth.

Providing you use a good whitening toothpaste then you do get whiter teeth, certainly compared to manual brushing.

Battery charge indicator is extremely useful as are the timer, guide and pressure sensor but these do verge on the gimmicky really, I don't actually need an electrical device to count to 2 minutes for me, I'm an intelligent person. However, if you don't have dental discipline then this will be good for you.

The cons:

It's very expensive, and I expect a lot of that cost is on the questionable gimmicks. I also wonder if there much cheaper models will do the same job without the frills.

You have to be very gentle with it or it will end up dmaging your gums. Just let the brush do all the work

Personally I think it's ugly, but that's just me.

Overall:

Well it works very well, and I for one am happy to have paid the price for it (half price that is).

I Was Given A Smart Oral B As A Gift And I Loved I

I was given a Smart Oral B as a gift and i loved it. Apart from spending a fortune on all the different kinds of heads, it can become a little compulsive.

However, all that changed when just a little over the 2 year guarantee, my tooth brush died, it just no longer charges. I have spoken to customer services and apparently it seems my battery has come to the end of it's life expectancy. Once this happens, the whole unit is defunct. The dead battery can't be replaced, nor can you buy just a new hand held unit to use with your current smart system. Apparently they expect the battery to last for 3 years, but this depends on how often you brush your teeth, three years is based on brushing for 2 min twice a day. Naughty me must have brushed my teeth more than that since mine only lasted just over two years.

So just be aware the unit will only last 3 years at the very most. Then it will become landfill.

I think they should tell people this when you are looking to buy it. Does the British Dental Health Foundation, who recommend it, know that the more you brush your teeth with this product the more you reduce it's working life. Not the brush heads, that makes sense, but the whole unit becomes defunct!

Actually, the battery can be replaced although braun have not made it real easy. There are several vids and instructions on the web to guide you (or a handy friend) in making the change, battery cost about £2.00UK!

I Bought This Oral B With Smart Guide 6 Months Ago

I bought this oral B with smart guide 6 months ago. I really like it. the timer is great and you can stick it to the bathrom wall to check the 2 min timing guide. Before I got it I always used to not brush my teeth for long enough. I would definitely recommend and is worth paying extra for the smart guide timer.
