Fransen Futura

Poor product. Do not heat up properly. Do not straighten my hair. Had these before several years ago and they were fantastic but these new ones are rubbish! I am wondering if these are fake.

Purchased from Amazon - hair heaven ( thought they might be fake but they are stating the are genuine from Fransen ). Maybe I am just unlucky with a defective product

I have these straighteners for 17 years! And still have lots of life in them the only reason I am buying another pair is because I lost my others :(

I have had SO many of these straighteners over the last 10 years that I have lost count. At least 7 pairs. But I use them EVERY day and always have two at a time so as to keep a set at my boyfriends too. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending them for people who prefer wider plate straighteners. I first discovered them when they were, in 2001, used by professional stylists in Saks hair salons. Saks did sell them at that time for £50, but they can now be bought online for around £40.

The thing I like best is the removable comb which keeps hair totally smooth and without kinks. I do know, however, that not every user likes the comb and it is instantly removed by many who find the straigheners easier to use without it. When not used correctly, the comb can get stuck in hair and cause a lot of tangles.

These straighteners, in my experience, work well for at least 3 years. Then, the spring will break. DEFINITELY. It has happened to me EVERY time. Sometimes much longer than 3 years, but be prepared! This can not be repaired and although the straighteners are still able to heat up and straighten hair, they are floppy and very awkward to use. For me, this is the time to replace them. Another thing is the removable comb will lose some of it's teeth within the first three years. This is another thing that has happened consistently with every set I've had, even though my hair is not at all thick. This doesn't have a massive impact on my already quite smooth straightish hair, but may be a little annoying for someone with thicker, curlier hair.

All in all, I remain very happy with these straighteners and have no intention of changing; in fact, I have this week bought another set.

Also, if the combs do break they can (unlike the spring) be replaced very cheaply. There is an online hair company (Hairheaven) which sells them for around £1.20.

So, if you want a very good value set of straighteners and prefer the (rather old fashioned) wide plates, do not hesitate in buying the Futura Standard.

They are VERY reasonably priced, and last just as long as GHDs. £40 every three years or more is not a lot of money.

These straighteners are great. I have had mine for about 9 years and they are still going strong. I have tried a couple of different straighteners recently as I got my hair cut a bit shorter and thought a thinner pair would be better to straighten my hair with but they are no where near as good as these straighteners. I keep having to use my futuras. I highly recommend them. They don't catch on your hair and you only have to straighten the section of hair once. They seem to heat up very warm but don't burn your hair and my hair is fine. When I purchased these straighteners they where £35 and excellant value for money.

These are the best straigteners i have ever had and i really could'nt manage without them. I have had the futura straighteners for over 10 years and they have never let me down. I began to panic when my little girl dropped them and they broke..i realised that the salon i bought them from had closed; but they have their own web site. Excellent product for thick long hair; beatiful finish and shine after daily use. Very reasonably priced, highly recommended and i had researched many, many hair straighteners before i found the futura straighteners

Highly recommended... I love my Fransen Futura hair straigteners! I've had them for over 14yrs and they still have plenty of life in them! I'm now looking for another set of straighteners now that I have had my hair cut short. The Fransen Futura ones have big plates which are fantastic for long hair but I've found more difficult to use with sort hair.

I love my Futura straightners. I bought them because they have bigger plates than other straightners, and i have thick, long hair,and its much quicker to straighten with these. I have had 2 pairs in 9 years, and they still have plenty of life them. So very good value for money, and very durable. Hightly recommendeed.

brilliant for thick hair, i had mine replaced about 7 years ago and i am only just needing a new pair now, and that's because i stood on them.

because of there being a fault with the straighteners, when i bought mine from a hair salon, they replaced them for a brand new pair free of charge when the spring broke. second pair has since worked wonders!

I think these straighteners are great, excellent value for money and worth while giving a go. Especially for those with thicker hair.

I totally agree with sorrentoking, great product, they don't drag through your hair like ceramics do and the comb is great too. I have had springs snap with two sets of Futuras and I can't seem to find a Customer Service Address to get replacements: Sorrentoking, please could you advise how you got hold of them. I'm using my second pair without a spring, but they don't do the job properly. The spring is obviously a problem and it would be a 10 out of 10 if this matter could be resolved.
