This Sigma 15-30mm F3.5-4.5 Ex Dg Asp Slr Lense Is
This Sigma 15-30mm F3.5-4.5 EX DG ASP SLR Lense is ideal for landscape photography and if your like taking pictures of buildings this is ideal. It also has close focus so you can get plenty of forground in. Digital SLR user's get a 22.5-45mm lense that's if it is on a Nikon D100 and the colour's are great.
There is aproximately a 1.5x factor in equivalent focal lengths between the 35mm format and the digital format. This is to be expected and is not a fault of the lens.
If you take a 15mm focal length lens and use it on a 35mm format camera, you get a wide field. If you take that same lens and put it on a digital camera, where the actual size of the CCD is smaller than 35mm film, you will only get about 66% of the picture that you did when using it with film. This is because the CCD is smaller in size than the 35mm film. Your digital picture would look as though you were using your 35mm format camera with a lens whose focal length was 1.5 times what it really is.
So, to convert equivalent focal lengths between 35mm film and digital format, just take the focal length of the lens and multiply it by 1.5
A 24mm focal length lens becomes equivalent to a (24) x (1.5) = 36mm focal length when used on a digital format camera.
So, the 15mm lens looks like a 22.5mm lens when you slap it on your digital.

The Sigma 15-30mm F3.5-4.5 Ex Dg Asp Lens Is Wonde
The Sigma 15-30mm F3.5-4.5 EX DG ASP lens is wonderful for all those people out there who want to photograph large buildings or sweeping landscapes but could never afford the huge lump of cash for an OEM lens.
It is also terrific for digital SLR owners as it gives a nice 22.5mm (effective) wide angle lens and avoids problems with peripheral light fall-off.
Very much impressed with this lens. About to take it to Florence and hope to get some cracking shots there!
