The Panasonic Dmr-bw780 Is A Real Disappointment.
The Panasonic DMR-BW780 is a real disappointment. It's painfully slow and the guide looks very dated with a font and background colours that just make it look cheap.
There is no picture in picture so you cannot continue to watch your chosen program and look at the guide at the same time. The guide is also on the small side, this is because a good section of the guide screen is taken up with advertising whether you like it or not.
Worse still is that despite claims, that as long as your camcorder supports AVCHD you will be able to upload your footage either via the built in SD card slot or directly from your camera via the built in USB slot to the units Hard drive and then to Blueray if you wish.
Well it won't, it only sees the stills in jpeg format, your footage does not show up at all.
A check on the Internet will show that many others have the same issue.
Panasonic's tech support is woefully lacking too. I've had no response since before Xmas to this very problem.
My biggest regret is that I waited for my camera SD card to be filled up before trying to upload the contents to the BW780 having taken the word of the spec sheet and the words of a demonstrator on a well known TV channel.
This is my third PVR and it is the worst of them all, very disappointed with Panasonic.
