Samsung BD-P1500 Blu Ray Player

Always been a bit skeptical about whether or not blu rays were better than dvd, but when you get a blu ray player the quality is just amazing. Never had any issues with this machine were as a few of my mates have with theirs! if youve got surround sound speakers it just adds to the experience of owning a blu ray player.

Nice machine, no playback issues with dvd or blueray or cd or indeed any, and all media I have inserted. Video reproduction is impressive as is the audio from movies. The main limitation on this player is how awful it sounds replaying cd or cdr music. Admittedly, it isn't specifically designed to replay cd audio discs, and the price of the player reflects this. If you require a competetivley priced, performance player, then this would be a safe choice, even if you occasionally listen to music discs. If however you listen to music on a regular basis, then I would avoid this player, its cd audio sound is tiresome and uninspiring.

I recently purchased this Samsung BD-P1500 Blu Ray Player and have to say what a load of rubbish, Where ever you look there are rave reviews however. After the admittedly easy set up I played my frst disc which after about 10 minutes froze solid.

So after reading the guide which told me that if the picture freezes remove batts from remote press any buttom to drain all the power. Then push the fast forward button for more than 5 secs to reset the factory setting, You should be able to view tried all that and low and behold on the 5th attempt and 2 hours later was able to view.

Thinking problem solved whent out and bought several more discs and would you believe it 10 mins into second disc (James Bond casino royale) Yeah you guessed it froze solid.

Luckily enough i remembered what i had done the week before and yes after about 2 hrs of resetting watched the film.

So bought Quantum of solice and tonight well need i go on, Froze again. This is now in the bin !!

The Samsung BD-P1500 Blu Ray Player is extremely user friendly, looks and sounds great - no playback issues whatsoever. Fast load times, bitstreams ALL audio formats, great picture, destroys my sharp Blu-ray player in every respect.

Bought the Samsung BD-P1500 blu-ray player after purchasing a new TV, plugged it all in very easily and within 5 mins was watching a disc. Picture quality was great (although there is a little motion blur) and sound quality was fantastic. Next day same thing, no problems.

Came to watch my 3rd disc and things went bad. Picture quality was excellent but there was no sound through the digital out. Changed to Analogue connectors and got really bad crackle through the speakers. Went on to the Samsung website and found there was a firmware update. Downloaded and attempted to apply it using a USB stick....no joy, tried the CD update method and again no joy. After 3 hours of fiddling I managed to get the network connection to work and the update downloaded, box rebooted......and.....still broken.

Contacted Samsung who initially tried to blame my Home cinema amp (considering the amp cost 4 times what the BD-P cost I laughed at this). Told them it was still bad through the TV speakers. They then told me to update the firmware......had already done so. Finally they said it was broken and that it needed a service (this box is less than a week old!!!). Now I'm sure Samsung would have fixed this unit and sent it back, but, if I have an item for such a short period of time and it fails I'm not going to trust the build quality so this is going back to the shop for a refund and I'll be buying the Sony.

I recently bought the Samsung BD-P1500 Blu Ray Player and I am amazed how far technology has come. Very time they bring out a new piece of technology I always think that it can't get any better better let me assure you that Samsung has out shone itself with the quality of the picture this Blu Ray produces. It is almost like the images are even crisper than in real life and the colours make my viewing, an experience of it's own.
