A KEF KIT 100 Review - I had a full home cinema set up and the quality was great but i got fed up with all the boxes and wires etc so when the Kef came out with reviews saying that it was almost as good as a full system, only without all the clutter, then i had to check it out. It's amazing! Easy to set up, equipment that is a pleasure to have in ur living room and sound quality that did not disappoint.
If you want a minimalistic set up, like a kind of retro look, but most importantly want it to do the business then i'd recommend it. I looked at the similar Denon and Bose models; didn't take to the sound on the Bose and the Denon is ok but not as well made and is bulky (although it does still look good though).
Have I regretted ditching a couple of speakers? Not at all, i don't think i'd go back to them now!

The Kef Kit 100 System Works Better Backing Onto A
The KEF KIT 100 system works better backing onto a wall rather than in a corner of a room due to the design of the speakers. I picked it up on Hughes Direct for 340 notes which is unbelievable value.
It's thumping away in the room now and is pretty spectacular..BUY IT!

The Other Thing Is That If You Have A Lot Of Base
The other thing is that if you have a lot of base on then you have to turn up the treble a lot because its hard to hear people speaking in films
Everyone we have shown this system to thinks it is fantastic and never said they have not heard anything as good.

I admit it, I am a Consumerist. If it's a "boy's toy" I have it. I love metal, I love shine, I love new toys. And I like to show off. So you can imagine that my consumerist heart went into palpitations at the sight of KEF Instant Theatre (KIT) staring out at me from the front cover of a well-know home cinema magazine. And dear readers, I bought it.
But it wasn't quite that simple. Also shiny and cool (so I thought) was the BOSE 3-2-1 that too promised "virtual" surround sound in a one-box solution. And there's also the proper 5.1 systems - the choice is huge in the KEF price bracket.
So why buy the KEF?
Have you heard it? It's tremendous and blows the socks off the BOSE. The wrap-around sound fills the room with effects. Cars pass you by; trains run you over, explosions in all directions. And bullets - wow! - Well you get the idea - it's good.
The picture quality is also truly excellent. I use it with a Sony LCD TV (another toy) and the combination gives a rich delicate picture with vibrant colours and no noise.
The construction - some space-age super magnesium alloy smelted in the depths of Mount Doom - is first rate. The DVD draw slips open from a hidden panel on the main unit and it all has a reassuringly heavy feel. Certainly to touch it feels much better made than the plastic Bose unit.
So finally, the design. To me it just looks cool. Sleek curves give it a modern retro look - it would fit well with that 70s TV that looks like an astronaut's helmet. The connections are numerous enough to make the system compatible with a plethora of other devises, and the small speakers have an expensive look. But as with most things novel (and Marmite) - you love it or hate. I just happen to love it!
