Definitely Do Not Buy This Daewoo Dsc-34w70n Tv Se
Definitely do not buy this Daewoo DSC-34W70N TV set. It has the capability to be a great Television, but the quality is horrible and the service is worse. I ordereed this set thinking that such a well known worldwide brand must be OK. After ordering I came across a few online reviews for this HDTV monitor saying that it had either quit or had green discolorations on the edges of the screen within days or at most a month after purchase. All reviews said that the service department did not answer phone or e-mails. However I was confident that since the reviews were months old, that the company had addressed these issues.
I received my set 4 days ago (2-17-03). Within 2 days it has green discolorations on the right edge of the screen and in whole the color seems off no matter what video source I use. The service department does NOT answer their phone (answering machine) and does NOT return messages. They also do NOT respond to any e-mails. All in all a very bad situation, I want my set fixed, but they obviously must know they have a problem and just don't care.
This set had caught my eye but after your review, which I thank you for. This set is now out of my sight. USA and other countries seems to go through this every time we try to resurrect a country.
I own this TV and had problems with it right out of the box. I had a green blotch in the bottom right corner of the screen. I had a puple vertical line on the right side of the screen. I also had dark vertical lines all across the screen. It took Daewoo tech support about a month to return my email. Daewoo arranged to have the TV picked up and taken to a local service center. They had it for a week when I finally called them to check on the status. They said they've never see problems like this before and had no idea how to fix it. The next time I called them back they told me they had to send it back to Daewoo for servicing. It has now been gone for 5 weeks and I have no clue if or when I will ever see it again.I emailed tech support and they told me an engineer had to look at it, but they gave me no time frame. I don't recommend this set or any other Daewoo product to anyone!
Do you have speakers next to the tv set? Move them back or away and it should go away.
