Philips 24PW6518

Had my Philips 24PW6518 now for about a year. My only regret is that I didn't buy two. It was dirt cheap for a flat widescreen ( £150 new). Contrast is great, excellent sharpness and realistic colour. Sound is as good as one would expect for the average TV (if you want excellent sound for any TV, you should hook it up to a separate sound system). It's big and bulky, but the picture quality is still way superior to an LCD TV. Has 2 scart ports as well as phono inputs and outputs, and a little 3-pin socket that I'm not sure what is for. Slightly disturbingly, it is advertised as 24", but I measured it with a tape measure across the diagonal, as just under 23".

Irony - this set replaced one 18 years old! The cost to a Service Agent recommended by Philips for an inspection of the cause would be £80 for an examination, plus parts, plus VAT. I've decided to cut my losses and scrap it. What is disappointing is that I made the decision to buy a 24" Philips as a result of a very satisfying buy of a 32PW9509 three years ago.

I got a really good deal on my Philips 24PW6518 and its turned out to be extremely good value for money, the picture is very sharp, with good contrast and very easy to tune in channels etc (automatic).
