Wouldn't Even Give It 1 Star
As an Animal Behaviour studies student I came to Dudley Zoo in order to observe the behaviour of the animals in captivity, and what I found was truly shocking. Social animals such as bears and tigers were housed alone, in unnatural environments, and given little room to roam which is psychologically disturbing to the animal. I have visited many Zoos over the years, however this one was one of the worst.

I Went To The Zoo Today With My Family And We Love
I went to the zoo today with my family and we loved it. The animals were beautiful and roaming around and looked like they loved their homes. However, when we went to eat in the Oak Kitchen the staff wasn't very polite. One was rude when we asked for onion rings and then while we were eating one of the staff members were talking about her 'batty'. Also, the toilets in there were disgusting and made me feel sick after eating. I will not be going in there again!
I loved the zoo and most of the staff were kind and helpful. Hopefully I will come again and enjoy what the zoo.
We also think the giraffes need more room and more trees.
Thank you for a brilliant day and I hope to come again soon.

Birthday Treat For Grandaughter
my 11year granddaughter really enjoyed her zoo day, feeding the animals cleaning out their stalls and seeing all the animals close up, the whole family also thought the experience very good the animals were in good condition and seemed happy in their surroundings.I have walking difficulties but I hired Scooter for the day which enabled me me to get round with ease I would recommend the use of this facility to anyone with mobility problems. The grounds around the castle were well kept, the only negative point is that the cafe closed around 1 30, fortunately we had a packed lunch but an ice cream would have just finished the day off.I was really pleased with the car parking facilities once we found the way in.

I had not been to Dudley Zoo for over 20 years, thought I would pay a visit today. Though
it cost me around £35 which paid for one adult plus two children and parking, I thought it was well worth the visit. . I found the staff extremely friendly and helpful. Toilets were clean. Generally a very pleasant outing. The minature train ride was included in the price and chair lift, would have been nice if the fun fair had been free too.

Not Been To This Zoo And Castle For Over 20 Years
Not been to this zoo and castle for over 20 years and so we thought we would take a trip on Sat 15th sept 2012 .
The sat nav using post code take you to the zoo but not car park so you have to turn around and look for the car park not signed until you go past a curry house down a side rd .
Some of the animals and cages were not open and looked like they needed a coat of paint plus the big major problem is at one place the tavern they ran out of food, so we either had to wait for 30 mins or look else where .
Due to a big long queues waiting for any food we decided to have a BBQ burger which again the bread rolls were soggy/wet looks like they have been in fridge and again only one person serving and collecting the rolls etc...

Brilliant Day Out!
Had an absolutely lovely day at Dudley zoo today with my friend and our 6 children ranging from 15yrs down to 15months. Ignore the bad reviews it's just people being pernickety, much better than Twycross and cheaper too plus you get a castle and a little fair ground too!
The place is steeped in history, some of the enclosures are listed buildings as they date back to the 1930's hence they can't be knocked down and rebuilt!!! Some people are just ignorant and instead of asking about the buildings just assume nobody is bothering with the upkeep of them!
The castle ruins are amazing! There's is so much to see and do.
I would recommend the zoo to anyone, it's inexpensive, the staff are friendly and very informative about all the animals and nothing is too much trouble. We stood for 20minutes chatting to a keeper about the penguins in the penguin walk through, he was actually uncharged if looking after the pandas but you would never have known.
The zoo is big on conservation, has an excellent breeding programme and you can see that the animals are cared for.
All in all a fantastic day out. I would suggest trainers and lots of water as the hill is steep but I managed in flip flops whilst pushing a pushchair so if I can do it anyone can.
Also, aim at it from the m5, if you use the A5 it takes hours and it's not signed until your about 50yards from the gate!!!

Brilliant Day Out
just wanted to write and say we came as a family on bank holiday and really had a great day.Its our 2nd visit but my mums first and she loved it all,we spent all day there and i cannot believe other reviews say there is nothing to see.
A zoo day out is what you make it and if you and youre kids are expecting an all singing all dancing place then this is not for you.If you are expecting to have a nice stroll,a picnic and to learn about the animals then you will love Dudley and the fact it has a castle that you can climb to the top of is a bonus. Please dont let other people put you off,we think the staff are doing the best they can with the donations they get.I do agree to have a chance to speak to staff would be a good idea especially for education trips but the staff we spoke to were friendly.
The gift shop needs work and if i lived closer i would offer my retail experience for free and make it more child price friendly.
WELL DONE DUDLEY we had a lovely day
