R.C. Sherriff, Journey's End (Penguin Modern Classics)

Overall, Journey's End is a very good read. It brings the silliness and immaturity of war to the audiences attention, making us realise that we are lucky to live in our society today as 'the great war' has shaped our country as a whole and has changed the way in which we lead our lives. We also realise how different the expectations were, with the conflict of 'stiff upper lip vs. human emotion'. Throughout the play Sherriff makes us realise how hard it is to fight your desire of showing human emotion against the expectations of their society. I really enjoyed the way he alerted us to the horrors of war but brought us through with friendship. I would highly recommend this book to anyone, especially if you enjoy history or war time texts. I hope you thoroughly enjoy it as much as myself.

Reading Journey's End was sort of boring the first time. When I read it again, I appreciated it so much more and found it a lot better. I recommend this to anybody who would deem themselves mature enough to understand Journeys' End. Original. Interesting, and not too long.

Doesn't hack it as a whole, individually interesting but in comparison to various other plays - poor. Dull. Doing it for GCSE.

I liked the way the author puts out the character Stanhope. There are so many traits to him. But I didn't see the point in the character Hardy. It was very touching. I loved it.

In my opinion, it was average. It was ruined a lot by it being used for an A-level text, as you cannot "just" read the book, you have to tear it to shreds.

R.C. Sherriff, Journey's End was so good and i'm so glad that i read it. I wish it was longer.

Journey is an excellent demonstration of relationships in the most difficult environment possible, every aspect of a relationship is shown.
