Not A 1st Person Shooter, Or Even A Real Time Stra
Not a 1st person shooter, or even a real time strategy, but defined as a real-time combat simulator. Sort of a mix of the first two, in the sense that the player IS commanding at the actual battle in real time., but also can disobey orders from incompetent superiors and adjust strategy "in the moment". So many options, I didn't have the time to list them all in the good points section.
If you are a PC gamer, casual Civil War buff, or just looking for some good clean fun, do yourself a favor - visit the website above, download and try the free demo. I think you will be surprised how well this tiny company (2 guys in their spare time) developed one of the best PC games you've ever seen.

Take Command Second Manassas (tc2m) Is An American
Take Command Second Manassas (TC2M) is an American Civil War strategy game in real time based on the 2nd Manassas Civil War Battle. The artificial intelligence is awesome, the best I've seen in any PC game. Because of this, the replay value is above excellent. After a year of playing this game almost on a daily basis, no two Open Play battles have even been remotely similar!
Beware war gamers and especially Civil War buffs, this game is Extremely addictive. Its just about the next best thing to experiencing a Civil War Battle!
Though the original version of this game revolves around the Battle of 2nd Manassas, there are mods and maps available such as Gettysburg and Antietem.

This game is extremely hard to find on store shelves for some reason and has to be typically ordered or downloaded. Check out MMG's website for ordering the CD or downloading details. The $30 I spent for this game is unquestionably the best money I ever spent!
I agree totally. By far the most exciting game I have ever experienced. Years I have waited for a game like this that has to do with the American Civil War. Everything in this review is correct, but I actually would go so far as to give the graphics a 10; especially when it comes to the trees and other foliage.
So all you "Armchair Generals" that are out there... you want a great game as well as a real challenge... "Take Command 2nd Manassas" is the game you want!
Excellent review. This game is extraordinary. After a game, it seems as if I just saw a Civil War battle. I don't mean the graphics, though they are perfectly adequate from my point of view, but the tactics, unpredictability, and drama. In one game, I was playing a brigade commander and received orders to hold a position in the woods next to some road. Across the way, I could see the heart of the battle taking place and my side getting mauled. I wondered if I shouldn't leave my position and go lend a hand, but decided I should follow orders. Well, after a while, who came down that road I was guarding from A.P. Hill's Light Division. They gave me a heck of a time, but I fought for every inch and, down my last bullets when the battle ended, I have saved the Union from what would have been a vicious flank attack. I have never had such dramatic experiences with any game before.
