Trainz 12

Trainz Railroad Simulator 12 is basically a Simulator game where you can drive trains using realistic controls in a realistic or user-created route. Surveyor mode is, in my opinion, the most significant feature of Trainz Railroad Simulator. It allows the user to create their very own map from scratch, terraform, lay track scenery and buildings.

There is a huge website known as the 'Download Station' where the user can download additional content for their Trainz game, created by other users. The best thing in my opinion is the ability to create your very own content for trains. Anything from trains to scenery to even rules and scripts for the game program.

It truly is a fascinating, time consuming game and has educational qualities. Not only does it teach the user all about trains but it encourages them to learn all about scripting and 3D modelling if one is inclined to create their own content.

Overall its not really a kids game I'd say for ages 12 upwards but only because of the complexity of the game, and it makes an ideal Fathers day gift.

Only drawbacks are its quite heavy on memory and graphics. Also they are quite a few bugs in the game that the developers say 'cant be fixed'. The most major one being that it snows and rains inside tunnels.
