Wipeout Pure

Wipeout Pure is a fast moving PSP game with excellent graphics which keep you hooked. There are many good effects!

As you move on in the game some races can become hard to complete, but there are lots of fun and very addictive races with really good background scenery. There are many different types of cars which have different stats; for example, a car can be better at speed and another could be better at handling. Also, some cars have weird and exciting weapons which you can use to destroy other vehicles. Crazy eye-catching races which keep you playing for hours, including some good music tracks. In multiplayer you can race up to 7 players! Great game!!

Along with Ridge Racer, this game is the best looking PSP title so far. In fact, it might look slightly better than Ridge Racer when you take into account the special effects (race craft exploding, missles, mines.) It is a thing of beauty.

The music is ok, but I turn it off. The sound effects are amazing though, espcecially with the headphones. You can almost feel the explosions and the sense of excitement increases as you hear race craft gaining on you.

The tracks are well designed, the backgrounds are highly detailed, and the weapons are clever.

The gameplay is addicting and rewarding when you win a race because you actually have to work for it. Some of the later levels are frustrating, but when you finally complete them you will have a sense of accomplishment.

You can play wirelessly with up to seven other players, but they have to be in your vicinity. I am sure that soon you will be able to play people from other areas.

I can't wait to see what later games look since this launch title looks so detailed. This game is worth the money for sure. I recommend it to everyone.

I bought my PSP Sony from Hong Kong, and also got Wipeout Pure as my first game. A friend also bought a PSP, and was a bit disappointed in his choice of game (Ridge Racers). Anyway, Wipeout is a fast (to begin with) and then faster racing game, which sees 8 "anti-gravity" ships compete over about a dozen tracks, and a further 4 "zone" tracks. On first switching on the console, I was impressed with the initial loading screen and FMV. Once into the game, you can either race against other AI ships or WIFI opponents, or you can get to know the tracks first (advised) by goin into Time Trial or Freeplay modes. The game itself is the latest in a long line of similar titles, and I'd class the graphics as coming pretty close to a PS2 version in comparison. Speed is the essence in this game, as you fly over speed up arrows and weapon pickups (some of the explosions and effects are truly gorgeous!). Pretty much all of the tracks are bendy and take place over ascents and descents, and all are beautifully rendered with fantastic detail. I was always a big fan of this genre, so it was natural for me to buy this game. It just needs perseverance in getting to know the tracks so you can get round without crashing into the sides! Once you do master the controls, however, you can progress up the speed rankings until your adrenalin will be bursting out of your veins! OK, not literally, but it gets the heart a 'pumpin'! All in all, a truly fantastic title, and one i'd definitely recommend to anyone as a first game. Why wait until september to get a PSP aswell?
