Thank You! Billy Lockett

Thank you so much, Brittannia. We needed to hold a meeting with singer songwriter Billy Lockett on Saturday morning. The landlord opened up early for us and the staff could not have been more helpful. We had a private area to ourselves and they provided wonderful tea and biscuits to keep us going. The meeting with Billy went really well and we are looking forward to his next big gig in the near future and to hearing more of his latest EP. Check it out on Billy Lockett sites on facebook, twitter and myspace....

Lovelly Riverside Setting, Freindly If A Little Un

Lovelly riverside setting, freindly if a little unproffesional staff ( a lack of company training it seems). We went for sunday lunch & my freind ordered a large roast beef (they said that was all that was left)this was £10 he got 2 slices of beef, some deepfried (alegedly roast) potaoes, two sprouts, peas, a couple of carrots & some processed mash potaoes. My freind had scampi & chips which was a small portion for the money. The peas were like bullets & chips cooked in old fat. The staff waited untill my freinds had their food to tell me that they had run out of the rump of lamb which I had ordered at £12.70. I ended up with half a dried up roast chicken, a load of tasteless beef an extra large yorkshire & veg & potatoes as above & mint gravy (on beef!!! yuk). Very Very disapointing what a waste of a lovelly pub

The Food Is Generic, But Was Good, If Not A Little

The food is generic, but was good, if not a little over priced. But the service was poor. We had to wait a long time for someone to take our order. The food did take awhile to arrive but it was busy. But after our meal we gave up waiting for someone to bring the bill so went to the bar to pay.

We did complain, but while the server did apologies they were less than interested.

I would be wary to recommend it, and say only go when it's not busy.

We Went There For Lunch Today And Had Been There S

We went there for lunch today and had been there several times in the past and had great service but always a bit touch and go with the food which u order from a generic menu that several pubs in the county use.

Today my wife was eating her starter and found a sharp piece of plastic in it which grazed her gum. It looked like a piece of a plastic lid.

I didnt kick up a fuss as it was busy at the bar with other ppl ordering food and took it with the plastic shard around to a waiter who said sorry ill get u another pot of humous who then joked that she hadnt died!

We ate our starters and main course but the misses was understandably put off eating anything at tall.

As you pay when you order and dont have a chance to refute the bill we went to the till to speak to the barman who unknown to us was the manager.

This man had such a bad attitude when i asked for the refund cost of my wifes starter and wanted to argue that we should have complained at the time and not after our main course and was very unapologetic as if it was our fault. We explained we had taken it to a waiter and he had taken it back to the kitchen and we thought he would have mentioned it. We couldnt have cared less about the £4 but the fact it was unedible and dangerous she could have choked on it.

They should list their complaints policy on the menu as the huge pad he produced to take down our details was almost full by the look of it.

The food - mass produced but ok - needs decent attentive food prep

the service -waiting staff great - manager - needs to take a course in customer care.

On the whole I could have kicked off and created a scene due to his attitude where he couldnt have cared less about the fact my wife had a foreign sharp object in her food, but it wouldnt have changed a thing that was obvious.

We wont be returning again which might have explained why the place was very quite on a saturday afternoon

My Wife And I Eat Out Regularly 2-3 Times Per Week

My wife and I eat out regularly 2-3 times per week. In th epast we were regulars at the Britannia but poor service and ill prepared food caused us to go elsewhere. That was a year ago. Recently we received, by email, a 2 for 1 offer for the Britannia and thought we'd give it another try (service can change with managers/staff). We were pleasantly surprised. The service was good together with the food. The new manager had made a change. He and his staff where all attentive and welcoming. The 2for1 offer made it excellent value for your money. I have not given a full 5 marks out of 5 as we intend to return when I will make a further review.

The Britannia Inn Has Just Had A Refurb And It Loo

The Britannia Inn has just had a refurb and it looks great. Love the table service. The old faces of the place have gone and many new staff. I have also notice a new manager there by the looks of it now and he's seems to be working hard to make it really work. We normally head over there for lunch and it used to take ages for food but now when full you'll wait about 15 - 20 mins which is unbelievable to previous and suits us to the ground. This place is going to get even better.

The Britannia Inn Setting Was Glorious. Staff Were

The Britannia Inn setting was glorious. Staff were very pleasant. Kitchen really let this pub down. After entree we waited over an hour for main to arrive. Had to ask 4 staff where food was. Only after 20 mins the last person asked was honest enough to say that our order had been misplaced. Food eventually came. Dry & tough as old boot - like it had been sitting under warming tray for the whole time! Ordered dessert and Tea & coffee. Neither arrived within 20 minutes. By this time had been there nearly 3 hours, so left. All pub could say was "sorry, we're really busy tonight". Other guests were complaining of waiting and cold food.

Highly recommend if you want a nice drink and atmosphere, outside on the canal. But would not recommend anyone eat there!

I Visit Britannia Inn, Northampton Fairly Regularl

I visit britannia inn, northampton fairly regularly as it is a convenient meeting place for me and my friends. Whilst this is a nice environment, with a beautiful canal side setting, it is consistently let down by a lack of sufficient staff. Waiting times for service either at the bar or for food are far too long to be reasonable.
