Mt Mum's 96th Birthday Celebration Was Ruined.
I visited The Griffin Inn on the 28th February with 8 of my family to celebrate my mother's 96th birthday with lunch out. My sister and mother had visited the previous week and were served nice food in the bar area. However, the food today was awful. The batter on the fish and onion rings was flacid and undercooked, my husbands brunch was one overcooked sausage, one rasher of bacon, one half of raw tomato, two small hash browns, one hard fried egg and a lake of baked beans. With it were two slices of white sliced bread spread with, what was said to be butter, but was a pale magarine colour. My husband asked why it wasn't toast and was told other.people prefer bread, with no offer to toast it. My sausage and mash was two re-cooked sausages which were poor quality on a bed of undercooked mash complete with lumps. The onion gravey was gloopy and a packet mix and had never seen an actual onion. Our friend chose the curry, rice and naan from the menu but was served a garlick naan, which she could not eat. The curry portion was also very small. The two burger meals were OK but the skin on fries needed further cooking. Two of our party were lucky.enough to order scampi with fat chips and had a good portion of simple food. All the food came out with delays so we didn't eat together as a group. As it was such a special birthday I did not complain until my mum had left. I spoke to the waitress who apologised but made no offer to speak to a manager or to refund any monies. I asked to talk to the "chef" who had gone home. This was less than an hour after we had eaten. The after service was poor, but the food was a disgrace. I am left never wanting to visit again. As we exited we saw the sign for Fine Dining displayed, which was ironic.

We Live In Rushden And Have Eaten At The Griffin,
We live in Rushden and have eaten at the Griffin, Higham Ferrers for a number of years. It has become our favourite restaurant for celebration meals - we had a family meal for our son's 40th a couple of weeks ago and as usual the food was excellent. Since we retired we have also started to eat lunch there fairly often - again the choice and quality of the food and the level of service has always been good. I must admit that I have rarely tasted the puddings - can never manage more than a starter and a main. However they look great! Starters and main courses offer a wide choice, including an interesting range of fresh fish options. Thank goodness for the Griffin - we have not found anywhere around this area to touch it.

A Party Of Us Stayed At This Inn Over The New Yea
A party of us stayed at this Inn over the new year celebrations and I can thoroughly recommend this place, the food and service was perfect the bedrooms were clean and warm and very comfortable all in all I will give it 100% and if I was to spend a week or fortnight in Newquay my first choice of accommodation would be the Griffin.
Thank you all for a wonderful time.

This Is Just To Thank You For Providing A Wonderfu
This is just to thank you for providing a wonderful evening meal for myself and family on Saturday evening. I was not sure what to expect as I only found your restauraunt by using google to find a local restaurant. We all enjoyed our meals and it was nice not to feel rushed in any way allowing time in between courses to relax and chat.
One other thing where on earth did you get those wonderful bar stools! one of my sons is just moving home and said he would love to know where they came from.
Thank you once again for making our sons birthday meal a great experience, I am sure we will be visiting again.

I Live In Higham Ferrers And Have Eaten In The Gri
I live in Higham Ferrers and have eaten in the Griffin numerous times and have had a few lovely meals there, a few not so good, but generally the standard of food is ok. I felt as though it was let down by some members of staff who made us feel unwelcome, we took my mother in law there for a snacky lunch on a Monday and as soon as one of these staff members discovered that we wouldn't be ordering from the Al a carte menu he seemed to treat us with disdain and left us to wander off and find our own table and didn't even give us any menus, what a welcome?!
The young lady behind the bar on the other hand was extremely friendly and helpful and made up for the frosty reception from the previous staff member. I don't think I will be going back there again. I don't think the food is that great!
