The Old White Lion, East Finchley

After a recent refurbishment, we popped into The Old White Lion this weekend after walking the dog, to warm up and get a Sunday roast, as well as check out the new décor.

We arrived as soon as it opened and I noticed all the new big comfy armchairs and the beautiful wooden floor - it looked very smart, but welcoming - just the place to unwind. My partner went to order our meal whilst I took the dog to go and find a seat. Very quickly a lady asked me if I would like some biscuits and a bowl of water for the dog. I thought that was very thoughtful, and the bowl she came over with, was a proper dog bowl, not a plastic tub like you get in many places.

The staff as always were friendly and helpful, we always tip here, which is not something I tend to do in pubs, but the level of services compels me to! We both ordered a Sunday Roast with chicken and it arrived very quickly. A HUGE plate full of chicken with some nice roasted potatoes (skins on) a large Yorkshire pudding and some veg (my only complaint - I could do without the cabbage!!). Between us, we had enough left over to give our (fairly big) dog a full meal!

Our waiter came and cleared our table very quickly and then ordered us a dessert sharer - A plate of 3 desserts, a lemon and lime crumble tart with raspberry sorbet (my favourite), a chocolate and salted caramel tart and a chocolate brownie. They were all delicious.

We will definitely be coming back here again soon, it's a really nice place to unwind and relax, especially good for dog walkers as it's so dog friendly.
