Unspeakable Rudeness

We contacted the Milan about a lunchtime buffet for 20-25 people to follow my mum's funeral. The waitress we spoke to was helpful and she suggested that it should be possible to create a buffet from the bar menu - we arranged to call in and discuss this. When we arrived, she told us that the manager had left a note of what the buffet could be - 3 (presumably large) plates of pasta, 3 pizzas, some bland salad and gateau with cream for £11.95 per head (i.e. £240 - £300 before drinks and service)! We explained that this was much too basic and heavy and would prefer the bar menu options. When we returned home, a British man who said he was 'one of the managers' rang and told us that what we had asked for was out of the question as it was 'too much trouble' for them to guage the amounts then said 'Look this isn't negotiable, this is what we can offer as this is what is easy for us' - by this time he was pretty much shouting down the phone and.. when I asked if we cold compromise he said 'I don't want to negotiate, in fact I am telling you now that we can't help you'. I was completely amazed, not only by his unspeakable rudeness but to think that a restaurant in a suburban backwater and not close to a hub of offices can afford to turn down week-day lunchtime trade on this scale. I see that the Milan is recommended as a local eating option on the web site of the Marriott Park Hotel. We didn't get to sample the food, but judging by the other reviews on this site, I guess not too many people would eat there twice. Appalling!

Reputation Going Down Quickly

I have been to the Milan about 6 times. Why with such a bad rating would I keep going back, well.......... Once I had a lovely meal, attentive staff, nice food and a great location near the heart of WorsleyManchester village and surrounded by some great local pubs.

Regrettably the service has never been replicated and of late the food has been appalling. From raw chicken to burnt 'medium' well steak. Also please check your bill on two occasions an extra bottle of wine was added to our tab! Try once in the hope of improvements but I wouldn't put money on it!

Didn't Mind The Cold , Dried And Slightly Burnt Pi

Didn't mind the cold , dried and slightly burnt pizza, and the not so clever spag bol, but one of the italian lads was a complete ****; arrogant and no manners at all. I phoned later after picking the food up and although annoyed with the staff member, without letting it show on the collection visit, i let them know that if i saw him anywhere i would have a word!

We Come To Manchester Once A Month For Work And We

we come to manchester once a month for work and were recomended this restaurant by our hotel. the service was appalling despite only a handful of customers. the calzone was burnt and when we pointed this out we were told this was normal. we were contemplating having starters and were told they would take 5 mins. 20 mins later we were still waiting. we were sat near the kitchen and all night we could here a woman complain about something. we, like the other customers had to go to the kitchen to ask for our bill. we told the waiter we were not happy and were not asked why nor offered a discount. we shall not return to this poor excuse for a restaurant and shall inform the marriott hotel in worsley not to recommend such a place. we ate there on 13th january 2011 at 9.30pm.

We Visited Milan Restaurant As A Party Of 3 To Cel

We visited Milan restaurant as a party of 3 to celebrate a birthday. We knew that the restaurant had recently been refurbished and hoped that the bad reviews had vanished along with the old decor. We were wrong. The wine was extremely over priced. £25 for a bottle on sale in the shops for under £10. The service was very poor considering the restaurant was less than half full and there were plenty of staff. Once our main courses were served we did not have any communication with the staff. One meal was tasteless and swimming in oil, the steak was cold and the fish dish was adequate but not good value for money.

When the waiter came to remove our plates I told him of the faults to which he said that we did not say anything when he asked us. I told him that at no point had he been to see us. He just picked up the plates and walked away. He did not even return to offer desserts or coffee. In fact we did not see him again.

We asked a passing waitress for the bill and again no comment was made to see if we were happy with evening. We paid the bill and left. We will not be returning.

I have read both the good and bad reviews but our experience did not reflect any of the positive comments I have seen.

We Eat Out As A Foursome On A Regular Basis, Usual

We eat out as a foursome on a regular basis, usually once a week. having tried most of the Italian restaurants in the area we decided to give 'Milan ' a try as it had been recommended by other family and friends. Two of us had ribs to start with and they came with no sauce, one of the portions were ice cold and had to be sent back, the portion that replaced it was hot and had the sauce with it. Then a T bones steak which was ordered medium to well done was bloody and rare. The joint of Lamb ordered was very fatty.

It was a disappointing evening, and a couple of the few good points was the location and the staff

After Sending A £160 Deposit And Pre-orderin

After sending a £160 deposit and pre-ordering meals, we were met with the worst meal we have had in 10 years.

First course - Some served cold, and we were offered no bread etc.

Main course - some came, some had to wait 20 minutes. Veg was uncooked - carrots, potatoes and parsnips were the same colour (white), and boiled and inedible. The steaks had to be sent back.

Two of the meals were supposed to be the same and came completely different.

Desert - well this really was worth waiting for - frozen cheesecake, profiteroles, tiramisu and chocolate fudge cake all dumped in the middle of the table with teaspoons all on one plate.

For this delightful meal at Milan in Worsley, we were charged an extra 10% service on all food drinks; this amounted to over £60.

The Bar Area At The Milan Restaurant In Worsley, M

The bar area at the Milan restaurant in Worsley, Manchester is too small, and it is often too crowded, with people waiting too long for tables they had booked days in advance. Staff turnover is very high, and you will never see the same face twice. Tables tend to be too close together, and one or two are in very bad spots, especially the one under the stairs near the cloak cupboard. The food is dismal to say the least. The veg doesn't taste fresh, and food is cooked with no imagination used whatsoever. There are too many dishes to choose from, which, I assume is why the food isn't too clever. Because the high staff turnover means lack of competence due to new chefs having to learn too many dishes.

I Have Eaten At This Restaurant Several Times, Bot

I have eaten at this restaurant several times, both lunch and evening. The first time I went I didn't enjoy my main course of pasta, but my meal was re-done and was much better. This would put some people off, but I have been again several times and tried a variety of dishes. The food has always been excellent - hot and plenty of it. The lamb shank is to die for. The house red wine is good quality, and the staff at Milan are always on hand to fill up your glass. You are never rushed in this restaurant.
