I used to live in Palnackie and have to say the Glenisle is one of my favourite places to eat.

The staff are friendly, the food is great and really good value for money (I could not even finish my macaroni and chips!)

We Booked A Table At The Glenisle Inn For An Eveni

We booked a table at the Glenisle inn for an evening meal as we were staying in the area.

The entrance to the restaurant is not very attractive, via the back door past an open storage area. The table mats and table cloth were dirty and there was loud 70s music blasting out from the adjoining bar area.

We waited about 15 minutes for our order to be taken by the barman who was the only person there manning the public bar and the restaurant.

My partner ordered soup as a starter and we both ordered a main course, there were only half a dozen other people in the restaurant but our food took 45 minutes to arrive (we were on the point of leaving)

The food was a complete suprise it was absolutely wonderful, well cooked, large portions and piping hot and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

After our meal I asked the barman if we should come to the bar to pay but he said he would bring the bill to us, we waited 15 minutes then went to look for him, we asked again for the bill he smiled said yes then carried on serving at the bar. We were tempted just to walk out as he didnt seem the least bit interested in taking our money, We finally paid and left. Think the chef should find a top job somewhere else as they are being undervalued here and the state of the restaurant does not reflect how delicious the food was.

Bought a holiday house in the area and have to come to this pub everytime we are up for our tea. It is always faultless and we come away full and content. It is friendly and all the locals and staff make us feel very welcome. Often have entertainment on which can be excellent. Keep up the good work !

This is the 1st time we have been here, but it'll not be last, had a very good night, the meal was fantastic, staff friendly and helpful, can't fault it, it was my husband's birthday while we where there, they gave him a Glenisle Inn polo shirt, used by the pool team, on the condition that my hubby drove from Newcastle every Tuesday to play pool for the Glenisle Inn lol

excellent idea about the free transport, he took us back to our hotel at Rockcliffe, Colvend Coast, Thanks for a good time XxX

I eat at The Glen Isle Inn on a regular basis. There are so many pubs going out of business every day but this little one seems to be going from strength to strength. First class food. Something for everyone on the menu. Service is great at all times and everything on the menu is great value for money. The owners of this place should be proud of themselves.

If anyone out there has not tried this place then its about time they did. I was speaking to the waitress the last time I was there and they now have their own transport in which they can come and pick you up, take you to the pub for your meal, and then take you home after a few drinks. What a great idea!

This pub is onto a winner

After Speaking To The Owner He Has Told Me That He

after speaking to the owner he has told me that he is extending the eating area to 80 covers very shortly. the coments from the other bad revue i would take with a pinch of salts, as the glenisle inn had a great write up in the sunday observer saying the food, service and value for money has outstanding. i eat there at least twice a week.

could you please explain why you rated it 10/10 for quality of food, is it bought in produce as indicated by one review or freshly prepared on the premises from raw ingredients?
