What's Gone Wrong?

Totally spoilt an evening with my girlfriend. Cullen skink was too much thick cream and came with its own skin on top. Mushrooms with haggis looked like it had come straight from a cheap frozen food supermarket and salad on side was a disgrace and so limp. Main course steak and chips for £17.95 was an insult. Cooked wrong and served with some frozen French fry style chips, that again felt like had come from same frozen shop they got mushrooms from. And that was it... Nothing else that you would normally get with a steak. I had to get steak cooked correctly and my lady had steak pie that was so so dry. We have eaten here many times and have enjoyed ourselves each time. However I don't know what has gone wrong but last night was a disgrace and a few pence short of £50 was most certainly not value for money. What a massive let down. However this place is normally a great place to Visit

I Highly Recommend This Restaurant :)

My husband and I visited the railbridge for the first time last week. We were seated straight away by a young manageress where she told us the specials and we were offered drinks straight away. I have to say the overall experience was fantastic and the food was amazing, especially the meringue! I would really recommend this place and will definately be back. :)

this is more a comment about the comment. i have been to the railbridge lots of times and the definately have meringues on the menu and they are huge. There is a place called the 2 bridges there but that is next door

Think this is for wrong restaraunt, 2 bridges do not have merangue on menu, our experience of the 2 bridges was totally oposite to this review.

Bridges South Queensferry Going Downhill

We went there in August 2011 for a meal prior to going to the Edinburgh Tattoo, we had been there about 3 times in the last 3 years. This time I was so put off by it I felt obliged to write this review.. The tables are in need of a good sand down and re varnish as the are all marked and look dirty. The service from the staff was good they seen us seated and were there taking the order as soon as we were ready. The food came quickly and that is where the biggest disappointment came, I ordered a burger which was dry, overcooked, tasteless and came with a tiny portion of chips and coleslaw. My wife had the thai curry which was okay but nothing startling and the mother in law had fish and chips which looked the best of the lot. Each meal cost over £10 each which is grossly overrated for what you get. They came and asked if we wanted the sweet menu but I was so put out by the cost and quality of what we had just hads I declined, this must be the first time ever I have refused a sweet! The total bill for 3 of us came to £37 pound for 3 main courses, 2 teas and a soft drink so ther was no way I was going to make it higher with a sweet or a tip.

We Went Here For Our Last Meal Of The Bank Holiday

We went here for our last meal of the bank holiday before heading home, we thought we would sit outside as it was such a lovely night, but when we arrived it was full, the waiter said "no problem give me 5 mins and within 5 minutes we had a table. we both had fish I had the smoked haddock and black pudding, which was excellent the two tastes really go well together and my partner had seabass which she said was cooked perfectly. The service throughout was excellent, the main waiter that was outside was really busy but was always smiling. I will definetly being going back here next time I am in South Queensferry

I Feel That Sometimes These Review Sites Merely Gi

I feel that sometimes these review sites merely give people a platform to complain about things and after reading some of the more negative reviews i would like to give my review of the railbridge. Yesterday i decided to take advantage of the unexpected weather conditions and treat my wife to a nice glass of wine and a meal. We have been to railbridge a number of times over the past six months so knew it was the ideal place to go, with there large outdoor eating area that gets the sun all day long. When we arrived not surprisingly it was really busy but thankfully we managed to get a table outside, before taking our order we were rather refreshingly informed by the pleasant waiting staff that there may be a slight delay with us receiving our food. After receiving our food (which we didn't wait long for after all), I had a mexican chicken ciabbatta and my wife opted for the roast beef, we had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The food was delicious, well presented, we were well looked after by the waiting staff despite them being rushed off there feet and we had a nice ice-cream cone from the shop which topped off our visit perfectly. My only grumble would be i feel certain items can be slighlty overpriced but it wouldn't put me off returning or recommending this place to anyone else.

After Weekending In Queensferry And For The Past S

after weekending in queensferry and for the past six years have been to this restaurant on many times over this time We were dissapointed at the last visit the staff were not as friendly and when we commented on the frozen chips and sauces in plastic packets we would have expected in our local \mcdonalds and witherspoons i was surprised they didnt take the comments as positive i thought the customer comments was the way to make things better and we did compliment them on the steaks..the tables looked tatty with all the varnish coming off it just wasnt the restaurant we had been used to. We also asked when booking the previous day for a table upstairs with a view of the bridges and where told we couldnt book that table as they had lots of bookings and wouldnt be able to book us a paticular table when we arrrived there was a table with two ladies still eating but all other tale upstairs were empty and we were crushed in between tables with very little room all in all not the pleasant experience we had come to expect we will not be eating or recommending this restaurant again we have always told people how good it was before and think it is resting on its past good reputation. the \hawes in is a pub meal but was expectional far better than this..

I agree with you, I went there on 11th August for a pre military tattoo meal and to be honest it a waste of money. Meals are way over priced, overcooked, portions small and the tables were in need of a sanding down and re varnish. THe waitress service though was good. I would not rush back.

We Went On Valentines Evening And It Was Just Perf

We went on Valentines evening and it was just perfect. The atmosphere was just right with low lighting and candles on all the tables. The food was amazing, we both agreed that it was some of ther best we had tasted for a long time. The desserts were to die for (all home made)The service was excellent, not too fussy but you didn't feel like you were being ignored. Will being going back again and again.

Went Last Night And The Place Was Packed Downstair

Went last night and the place was packed downstairs, could only see 2 memebers of staff but they seemed to be everywhere at just the right time. we were shown over to the table and drinks were taken which arrived promptly. We then ordered our food and were told there may be a small delay as they were busy, no problem it was nice to get a restaurant that tells you this up front. Within 10 minutes we all had our meals which were superb,I have waited longer for meals in empty places. we then ordered desserts and finished of with coffees on the leather sofas in front of a great log fire. This place has a great location, excellent food and first class service. I would go out of my way to visit here again.
