The Rock Inn Is Tucked Away - Close To What Devon

The Rock Inn is tucked away - close to what devon is all about. Quiet and welcoming. Good food, well-presented and with friendly staff.

Tucked Away In The Village Of Haytor Vale The Rock

Tucked away in the village of Haytor Vale the Rock Inn was a real find. The inn is predominantly a food rather than drinking venue, particularly in the evening, but the beer was good just the same.

Had lunch here one day - a good menu of light dishes and filled baguettes (lovely rare beef with salad garnish) etc - and decided we had to go back for an evening meal there.

Atmospheric (log fire) bar and a couple of side rooms provide seating - expect a member of staff to accost you on entry, although in fact they proved friendly, efficient and unobtrusive.

The good and interesting dinner menu is for the most part fixed price per course. Food was well presented in a modern style, all good quality and beautifully cooked. There were nine of us so we tried a lot of different dishes, and without one adverse comment. Good wine list with knowledgeable advice (and no pressure) from staff.

Expect to pay around £35 per head for three courses with wine - you won't be disappointed.
