A Party Of Twelve Of Us Had Arranged A Night Out,
A party of twelve of us had arranged a night out, staring with a meal at slones followed by the theatre. Our table and orders had been pre booked. We were booked in at 6pm but due to getting our own drinks at the bar we were seated at 6.05pm. Three of us had starters which were served fairly fast. By 6.45 we had still not received our main meals and when we questioned the whereabouts of them the manager rudely snapped that we were late and other people would be served first (the 5 minutes latest was due to getting our own drinks) and the meal was pre ordered so this should of been prepared! Our meal arrived at 7pm, we had tickets for the theatre for 7.30 which the manager knew about. Most of the meals where cold and uneatable and so had to be returned. From one extreme to the other the meals returned and were so hot we were unable to eat them and by now we were in so much of a rush we simply did not have time. The bill then arrived which the manager had wrote in red pen at the bottom of the bill +10% which was for their tip. How they had the cheek after the service and discusting attitude of the manager i do not know, but to save further dispute we paid the full bill and left very dissatisfied, most of us still hungry and basically not in the spirit we had started out in. All in all slones ruined our not so often girly night out and it is safe to say we will NEVER return there and strongly advise people thinking about visiting the restaurant to re consider.

Myself And A Dozen Others Had Booked A Table For 7
Myself and a dozen others had booked a table for 7pm last Friday. We arrived at the restaurant at the designated time only to be told we had to be back out of the door within 2 hours at 9pm. We then accepted this and were sat at our table. We then had to wait 1 hour and 10 minutes for our starters to arrive which was too long to wait. Once we had finished our starters within 15 minutes our main course then arrived which I have to say was very disappointing.
After our main course we then asked about our deserts and we were then told that we had never ordered them. We were then discouraged to order our deserts as it was very busy. I found this disgraceful as we had pre ordered and placed our deposits before attending the restaurant.
I had been looking forward to attending the restaurant for 2 weeks prior to the visit. Howether I left with a bitter taste in my mouth and will be taking my business else where in the future.

Having Eaten At The Restaurant On Friday Night I W
Having eaten at the restaurant on Friday night I would like to comment on the evening.
The service at Sloan's was terrible; I sat down for my meal at 7pm to be told I had to leave by 9pm. This gave me a feeling of being rushed and in my opinion already put a dent in the meal that I was about to have, not to mention the unprofessional attitude of the waiters regarding the time they wished us to vacate the premises. This was totally unacceptable, however, we accepted that they would like us out by 9pm as they were, indeed, very busy. In the event of us accepting that they would like us out by 9pm, we assumed that our food wouldn't be too long from the 7pm that we sat down. Unfortunately, I didn't receive my starter until 8:10pm which is not good enough considering I had been sat there for an hour. I appreciate that when restaurants are busy, times may be different, but waiting an hour for a starter is unacceptable. The main meals came about 15 minutes afterwards, but didn't arrive at the same time as the people I was sat with, half of us were eating before the other half received their food.
The biggest problem came when the clock was getting close to 9pm; the waiters were becoming very rude and arrogant in the reference to the time. This was not the party's fault due to the starters taking 70 minutes to arrive. I was appalled, when I asked to see a desert menu and simply got told no. The party had pre-ordered deserts and several people were having deserts anyway so I decided to have one. The waiter then decided to tell the party that we didn't pre-order our deserts, therefore couldn't have them. Eventually, after arguing with the waiters, we produced a sheet with all the orders we had confirmed on the 9th of December. The deserts came and the party rushed the food due to the waiters standing over the party for the majority of the time. After finishing we were told to "pay" for the deserts again as they were not included with the 3 course Christmas menu that was on the website when we ordered (3 courses for £19.95). We argued that they were, and the waiter took a look at the sheet and agreed that we didn't have to pay again.
The waiters also tried charging us for beverages that we had already paid for at the bar.
The whole evening was ruined because of the service, or lack of for that matter, that Sloan's provided. When we tried to make a complaint at the restaurant we were told to leave and not politely, when we had paid for the meal after ten minutes of the restaurant disputing what we had ordered, the waiter told us to get out.
This is, by far, the worst restaurant that I have been to in terms of service. I will be not be returning to Sloan's and will be passing this message on to my friends and work colleagues.

The Table Was Booked For 7pm. Prior To The Meal Ea
The table was booked for 7pm. Prior to the meal each of us paid £5 deposit (a total of £80) which was provided to you in the time requested. Also as requested we gathered together a pre-order for all our meals, this included 6 choices from the Christmas special menu along with starters, main courses and deserts. All of which was done in a timely fashion.
When the table was booked it
Upon arriving we were rudely told that we had to be out for 9pm as the table was going to be used by a following party, something we had not been made aware of.
Regardless of this we happily took our seats, and our drink order was shortly taken.
All of the drinks ordered were paid for with the waiter.
An hour and 10 minutes later (around 8:15pm) our starters arrived. Which is unacceptable, considering the entirety of the meal had been pre-ordered, and only half of us had ordered starters.
I worked as a Restaurant Manager for 5 years, and following any form of customer service practice, at the very least I would have expected a member of my staff to have apologised to a group of paying customers put in that position. Instead, when we asked about our starters and if there was a problem we were laughed at by the waiter, with a comment along the lines of "awww are you all hungry". Not the best thing to say to a large group of paying, hungry and increasingly frustrated customers.
The Main meal didn't arrive until approximately 8:45pm (15 minutes before the time we had been told to leave for). So not only had we been made to wait an hour and 45 minutes for our food, we were left with only 15 minutes to eat it, pay and leave.
We finished our meal around 9:10pm, and before half of us had put our folks down we were being told by another waiter that we would need to leave as the table was needed for a following party. We then asked about our deserts which had already been ordered days before the actual meal, we were then told we had not ordered any deserts and that we should be leaving by now.
Luckily we had brought a copy of the pre-order we had provided, and after a brief confrontation with your waiter, he then retracted his argument and advised us we could eat our deserts but would have to then leave. Our deserts finally arrived another 15 minutes later.
So now through no fault of our own, not only were we unhappy but the table soon to occupy our seats had been made to wait 25 minutes.
When paying we had also been overcharged, we weren't given a bill, just asked to pay a certain amount. Luckily I could see the till screen and could see that we had been charged for 6 "sacher" and 1 "open drink". When I asked what sacher meant, the man taking our money advised it was nothing. I asked again and he stated it was for deserts. Deserts that had been charged for in addition to the set menu. We had to actually show him how much the meals were, and how much it should have been.
No one apologised, a simple sorry goes a very long way. Our evening was ruined, and the word "sorry" was never once used.

This Place Is Something Of A Surprise. Despite Its
This place is something of a surprise. Despite its looks and its name, it turns out this is a pretty good Italian restaurant. It's well located, just round the ocrner from the theatre off Westgate. They do decent earlybird and lunchtime offers which vary between days and times, though they usually involve a 2 courses for the price of one or two meals for one which work out to be real bargains if you can take advantage of them.
The pizzas are good, and they do a good range of meat and fish main dishes (Chicken cacciatore was good). I didn't try the pasta, but it does look good.
I also had no compliants at the service either.
I'd recommend Sloanes Restaurant, Wakefield.
