Poor Poor Poor.
This place has gone down the pan since we visited about 12 months ago. Service was mediocre and the food terrible The pate looked like a dollop of dog poo and was absolutely tasteless and the main course of pork on chaipatta bread was possibley yesterdays leftovers. Wil not recommend or go again. I hpoe the rest of their establishments have not deteriated to this extent.

Very Disappointing Wouldn't Recommend It
Don't like the new menu, not enough choice, one of us chose chicken but it wasn't available, so we chose steaks which were lacking in sides and the chips were saturated. One of us chose cottage pie which was tasteless and very bland. One of the drinks we ordered was a port and lemonade but they had run out of port. The selection for deserts were poor although what we had was edible. We won't be going again for a very long time. A very disappointing and costly evening.

There Are Nicer Restaurants In Ripponden For Sunday Lunch
The atmosphere is relaxed and decor very pleasant. I have been here before and found that the evening service is better. Unfortunately, I have had a couple of bad experiences for Sunday Lunch - anaemic roast potatoes and very over done yorkshire puddings. The veggie option on the main menu states it comes served with usual trimmings but was instead brought with hard boiled potatoes and a boring tomatoe sauce. I questioned this when it came and the waitress insisted that it stated on the menu it came with tomatoe sauce etc. I pointed out that it didn't which was confirmed by the menu. I didn't receive an apology but was duly brought the overly done yorkshire pudding. The 3 course menu is good value and I loved the starter I had but the dessert was tasteless (apple sponge). However, I'd be prepared to pay more if the food was better!!
Generally, staff were very attentive and hard working. I just feel it's a shame that the sunday dinners are not that great.
Visited this restaurant for the first time on the 22 of April and was wholly satisfied with every aspect of the visit, staff were friendly and attentive and the food was excellent. I have eaten at many restaurants/pubs and this ranks in the top ten for me.

Went For A Meal On 28/4/11 And Ordered Scallops To
Went for a meal on 28/4/11 and ordered scallops to start, this consisted of 4 tiny scallops no larger than a finger nail in one shell. They were too small to taste and felt completely ripped off and mislead by menu as they were £6.00. The main course of chicken fajita was no better at £12.00 it was definately not worth the money and could have been more inventive. Expressed concerns to management but their attitude reflected the service all night - VERY POOR. Would not recommend to friend or enemy!!

It Would Seem That The "sunday Factor" Whereby You
It would seem that the "Sunday factor" whereby you go out for a meal on any "special" day (mothers day, Valentines, Sunday lunch etc) is marred by restaurants (and or chefs) being unable of unwilling to put in the effort because "the punters will always turn up anyway" !!! I took my family to the Malt House at Rishworth for Sunday lunch having eaten here on many occasions before, but never on a Suday. Service great, restaraunt great, one meal cold (carvery), one meal uncooked (Risotto), of the two fish dishes ordered, one portion was half the size of the other and overcooked to the point of being unedible. The second fish dish was great!! The manager was called and he agreed the meals were poor but asked me to "shush"
because the restaurant was busy. Eat here by all means, but make sure that it's during the week or quiet enough for the chef to cope !!!!

We Have Driven Past The Malthouse At Rishworth Man
We have driven past the Malthouse at Rishworth many times but had been deterred from eating there by a couple of poor reviews.
Today we called in for lunch and found that there were only a few seats left, which must be some sort of recommendation considering the competition in this area.
The staff were immediately helpful and were nothing less than professional. The interior is bright, clean and pleasantly decorated. We ordered from the ` two for £10` menu; a Lasagne with garlic bread and a Haddock and chips. The portions were naturally smaller, but adequate and the quality was excellent. We will certainly recommend this place and will visit again soon.

I Am Not Sure Why People Have Had Bad Experiences.
I am not sure why people have had bad experiences. I am fussy and I have always eaten well and been looked after well here. We shared a plate of chips the other day and came for a meal a few days later - the service and quality was fantastic. Roaring fire, good food, attentive service and excellent prices.

Don't Eat There On A Tuesday, No One Appears To Co
Don't eat there on a Tuesday, no one appears to control front of house, the service is terrible and the chef is surely still in training.
