Soft Play Is A Danger Zone

I will never come back to this establishment again. My 2 year old son was ganged up on by older boys, kicked and had his trousers and socks taken off. By the time I got up there the kids had scattered. We both were in a right state. What children do that to other children? I complained and the staff were sympathetic but they do not have cctv in that area so couldn't do anything. I'm mortified. But will never take my eyes of my boys again and never attend this soft play area.

Very Disappointed With The Food, Childs Pizza Came

Very disappointed with the food, childs pizza came with garlic bread, wanted to swap this for chips but the answer was no. The pizza was a chicargo town microwave one, very poor. Also the childs sunday lunch was bigger than the adults. Food was very dry and very poor quality. certainly wont be going again

Really Disappointed With The Food. Childrens Meatb

Really disappointed with the food. Childrens meatballs with pasta looked like they came from a tin, really poor quality, I wouldn't give them this at home. My chicken tikka was really watery and tasted like a ready-meal. Also service really poor. Staff hanging around chatting and ignoring customers.

Won't be going back there again.

I Have Just Returned From Spending A Lovely Aftern

I have just returned from spending a lovely afternoon at the walnut tree. As the weather was bad and cold we thought we would take the kids to the wacky warehouse to burn off some energy. It has been a while since we had been to the walnut tree and I was pleasantly surprised with the standards. The wacky had been updated, even had a small climbing wall, which the kids loved and there was plenty of seating and a small coffee area for us adults to chill. It was very clean and the staff were great with the kids. We were so impressed we decided to stay for lunch. Apparently it has a new manager and you can certainly tell the minute you walk in. The staff were really friendly and made you feel very welcome and the service was good even though it was a busy time. We will definately be going here in future instead of the stanley ferry. Great value for money!!!:-)

The Walnut Tree, On The Face Of It Is Good Value,

The Walnut Tree, on the face of it is good value, and you can customise your meal without problem, but the last two times we have been we have experienced unwelcome additions to the meal. Have to think hard before we go again.

Always Enjoy Whatever We Eat And Have A Laugh With

Always enjoy whatever we eat and have a laugh with the staff. They even remember you the next time if you go regular, which usually only happens on holiday!

The Italian Chicken Was Lovely, The Mains Were All

The italian chicken was lovely, the mains were all pretty good but puddings let them down. Excellent value.

After My Daughter Said She Went To The Walnut Tree

After my daughter said she went to The Walnut Tree Restaurant in Wakefield and it was nice, we thought we would give it a try.

Firstly, I could not believe how greasy the seats were, they had a thick black sheen over the worn out fabric, the restaurant reminded me of a cross between a Caravan park clubhouse and a Supermarket cafe and it was definitely in need of a refurbishment. Even the menus were sticky and dirty.

The starters came 25 minutes after ordering them, which is not too bad to say it was busy but the prawn cocktails had no lemon slices or even any butter for the bread, which were the ends of a loaf, not nice.

The main courses came and 2 seconds later a girl asked us if everything was alright, I had not had a chance to find out but did not really want to comment in any case. Basically the food looked as though it was all cooked seperately then reheated and put together, which provided very little taste in the dishes, I mean, chicken cooked in onions and mushrooms with garlic would be tasty if it was all cooked together but they had definitely put some deep fried mushrooms on top of a plain cooked chicken breast and then added some "hot dog" style onions on the top, even the baked potato was a soggy microwave reheat. Big yellow chips could be seen all around the restaurant. No black pepper on the table only white pepper all round, which is fine if you're having fried eggs.

You kind of get what you pay for and to me this is perfect for those meanies who dont like paying to eat out but do not mind if it is not brilliant either. For children it is obviously fine as my daughter gave it the thumbs up.

I agree completely! We had a meal there last year and the ceiling started to drip, and then collapsed - my husband joked that he hadn't wanted a table in the deep end. The food was poor, the service poorer....really sad actually - the Walnut tree used to be a Porterhouse restaurant, the finest steaks, food and service were available - the demise of this wonderful restaurant into a 2 for 1 if you're desperate is so sad :(
