True Romance Is A Teenage Boys Film Which Is Avera

True Romance is a teenage boys film which is average by any standards. The plot is an obvious projection of the fantasy life that Quentin Tarrantino would have enjoyed whilst working in his video shop. Everything about it is okay except for Gary Oldmans bizarre performance, I can only imagine he was having a good giggle at the director's expense. This film is worth watching however for the scene between Dennis Hopper and Christopher Walken - it is everything the Pacino, DeNiro showdown in Heat should have been and is marvellously acted.

True Romance Is Set In Downtown Detroit, Slater Pl

True Romance is set in downtown detroit, Slater plays a quiet comic book shop worker. When Arquette is hired by Slater's boss to be his birthday 'call girl' companion, the two fall in love and leave their previous lives in a second. Slater plays his part with a comedic slyness that holds an underlying violence towards anyone who could threaten his new love, Arquette is gorgeous and light-headed and together they make a happy couple, only to discover that by strange events, they are being hunted by the mafia. In steps Christopher Walken who gives an amazingly tense speech while lecturing Dennis Hopper (slaters father in the film) before giving him a heavy goodnight for the rest of the film. Don't forget to look out for Brad Pitt as a faltering drug user, in real comedic style as a temporary room mate of Slater!

Not many bad points to speak of, the film has an air of hollywood corniness by the way that two sad lives are made happy for a split second before being dashed to pieces again, and yet always ending with a moral happiness.
