Stiller, Vaughn, Hill. Should Be Good Right?
I managed to see a preview of this before UK release. I have always enjoyed films with Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn and Jonah Hill in, and I have liked the stuff on UK TV that Richard Ayoade has been in (the IT Crowd), so I was really looking forward to this.
I wasn't totally disappointed overall, and there were definitely movements where I laughed out loud. However it didn't quite hit the spot like others of its genre.
All the characters are larger than life and, presumably supposed to be unbelievable. Stiller as a socially repressed do gooder, Vaughn as a family man itching to cut loose, Hill, a mentally unbalanced high school drop out and Ayoade a geeky English guy (of course) trying to get 'his balls sucked'.
The best bits of the movie are those that seemingly are unscripted. The fact that Seth Rogan was one of the writers makes me think that perhaps they this is not the case and some of the lines they come up are hilarious. Just noticed this is a 15, how rude does a film need to be to get an 18 cert?!
If you are a big movie goer and have seen other films with similar actors like knocked up, the wedding crashers etc then you will definitely enjoy this, but it is very much the poor relative of those movies due to the average plot line.
