How Funny Was It?

Towards The End Of His Performance Dave Gorman Ask

Towards the end of his performance Dave Gorman asked everyone to let people know honestly what they thought of the show 'Dave Gorman's Google Whack Adventure', so that is what I thought I'd do. Dave Gorman is a crazy character living in his own world somewhere between complete genius and out of control nutter. This is one of the most amazing true stories I have ever heard, and you know it's true, he's got the tattoo to prove it.

Anyway here's a basic synopsis of his amazing story. Dave turned 31 and decided he should become serious and so grew a beard and got commissioned to write a novel. Whilst avoiding writing the novel and reading his emails Dave found out he was a Google Whack. If you don't know what a Google Whack is I'll tell you, but you won't thank me in 3hours when you're still trying to find one....A Googlewhack is when you enter 2 words into the search engine google.com and you get one singular result. The rules are the words must both be in dictionary.com (you know if they are or not because they will be underlined if they're allowed) and the website must be more than a list of obscure words, i.e. the words must be used in context. Anyway back to the show. So Dave obviously is motivated to find one, he does so and becomes friends with the bloke who website it was, a site about women and dogs (God bless the internet, where would we be without it?). He then find a Google Whack on a site which belongs to another Dave Gorman a Dave Gorman that the Dave Gorman met on his 'Are You Dave Gorman?' show, mental. He (other Dave Gorman) then Challenges Dave to find a chain of 10 Google Whacks before his 32nd Birthday. Dave eventually takes up the challenge despite his desires to become serious and the story gets even more amazing. I was honestly blown away by this story, mental in the extreme. Anyway various shenanigans happen along the way and Dave as with all his shows meets some proper mad people, I'll let you see the show or read the book to find out how it all ends.

The show was really funny, Dave has a talent of encountering comedy wherever he goes and so his story telling seems effortless. My only complaints of the whole show where; That there was no warm up act, although Dave did over 2 hours so that's not a biggy, and that the show was very rehearsed. To be fair Dave had done the show over 150 times (I think he said) and you knew pretty much everything he said that night he said the night before and will say the night after, so you probably wouldn't want to see it twice, although to be fair the show wouldn't work if spend loads of time interacting with the audience and he's not really that type of comedian. However you do definitely want to see this show once. The man is a legend, completely out of his tree but a legend.
