Disappointing Night

Crude and Unfunny. Took my wife and 2 teenagers with me and was honestly embarrassed. We left at intermission.

Excellent

Went to see this with a friend and it really was fantastically funny and original! I was a bit apprehensive about the prospect of puppets and how it might affect the overall effectiveness of the show, but it is a very enjoyable and interesting medium to see being used!

The

Well after seeing the Royal Variety Performance on the Royal Variety Show back in 2005 (i think) I have always wanted to see Avenue Q. I went down to London last year but with the large choice of shows on the west end i decided to seen The Lion King instead. A few months after seeing the Lion King i was emailed by my local theatre showing what was coming in 2011 and lo and behold Avenue Q was the top of the list. I obviously brought tickets as soon as i could and on Saturday the 19th of May i attend Birmingham Hippodrome with a close friend of mine who also had a large interest in theatre.

I was aware that the show was quite rude and politicaly inccorect at some points but i was so excited to be seeing it this really was no issue for me.

I for one and a huge fan of puppetry i thouroghly enjoy the Muppets films and have a large collection of puppets so seeing Muppet style acting and proforming was like a dream come true.

The show itself was hillarious the dynamic character and the funny lyrics including

This Has To Be The Most Unfunny Show I Have Ever S

This has to be the most unfunny show I have ever seen. I was the execption much of the audience was in stitches but for me it just wasn't funny. It was just infant school level humour for adults that was simply purile. I would not recommend it and felt that I had a very dull night out. The puppetry was skillful and clever but that doesn't make it a good show.

Whilst I Enjoyed The Sentiment Of The Lyrics And D

Whilst I enjoyed the sentiment of the lyrics and dialogue, I just didn't think it was funny. I did chuckle occasionally, but only in the first half. The puppets ruin the show because the performers can be clearly seen working them. It may have been better if the performers wore costumes or masks, perhaps. Wouldn't recommend to a friend. A positive? The ticket price is half that of other West End shows and the refreshments are less expensive.

Avenue Q Is A Comedy Musical Using Puppets As The

Avenue Q is a comedy musical using puppets as the main characters. I went to see it with my sister as a birthday present for her and we both thoroughly enjoyed the show.

It takes a little while to get used to at the beginning, as the puppeteers are live on stage holding their puppets and no attempt is made to mask them. However, the story and characters soon take over and you soon get used to the format.

It is very much a more 'adult' comedy, which somewhat subverts the form of puppetry such as 'Sesame Street' and 'The Muppets', including comedy numbers about racism and internet pornography! These are dealt with very well though and I don't think many people will be too offended by the content. A lot of the jokes are very funny and we found ourselves laughing out loud for large portions of the show.

The tickets can be on the expensive side (similar to a lot of London West End shows), but as a treat I'd say it's worth it.

The Show Is A Must See, It Was The Best Laugh I've

The show is a must see, it was the best laugh I've had in ages. I highly recommend it to anybody. I would actually see it again at some point.. It's got comedy, puppetry, music, and you are guaranteed to laugh.

This Is The Ultimate Modern Day Musical. If You're

This is the ultimate modern day musical. If you're fed up with do ray me and a spoonful of sugar than this could be your new cup of tea. This comedy musical combines music, dance and puppets! One of the misconceptions of this show using puppets, is it's for children, think again; not really suitable for anyone under 12 I would say. Within only ten minutes of the play you'll soon forget that there were any humans controlling the puppets at all! However if you are easily offended do urge on the side of caution as this musical does contain a great deal of adult content. The songs will soon get stuck in your head but really it's worth it!
