What An Awesome Album. I've Been A Fan Of Dizzee
What an awesome album. I've been a fan of Dizzee Rascal for years but I don't always buy his albums as they can be a bit too heavy for my tastes. The recent massive tunes 'Bonkers' and Calvin Harris collaboration from last year 'Dance Wiv Me' persuaded me to take the plunge and splash out on Tongue N Cheek.
As well as the aforementioned tracks you get Dizzee's current hit Holiday. The best non-released tracks on the album are Money, Money and Bad Behaviour. I expect cleaned up versions of these to be released soon.
The production for most of the tracks is full of bouncey, fun samples and the lyrics are, as the album name suggests, full of Dizzee's usual tongue in cheek funny lyrics. Some of the lyrics are just plain wrong, but very amusing.
The only track I was disappointed in was his 'cover' of Dirty Cash (called Dirtee Cash of course!) which was too similar to the original and just sounded like Dizzee rapping over the original rather than a true reinvention.
Tongue N Cheek is definitely more pop-py and more accessbile to the masses than previous Dizzee albums but he continues to mix urban grime-style production with cheeky lyrics and a mainstream dance flavour thanks to collborations with Calvin Harris and Armand Van Helden. Definitely recommended by me.
