Alesis DM5 Electronic Drum kit

I bought this off a friend for £100 and my 5/5 rating is based on the low price. Obviously it's not going to be to the same standard as a professional electronic drum kit but for this price you get great value. The pads are velocity sensitive and this curve can be adjusted. Of course all the pads can be customized, you can change the volume and sensitivity of the pads individually to get the sound you want. Unfortunately the sounds you get with the kit are pretty basic - the standard kit sounds pretty decent but still sounds obviously like an electric kit. The other kits are really hit and miss, with far more misses than hits... As this is such a cheap kit second hand (I'm sure you could find them for £80 if you looked) you really can't argue with it considering the amount of fun that can be had. The cymbals sometimes don't register hits but that may be just because my kit is a bit old and abused. Don't be fooled by the budget price because you can do just about everything you can on a real kit, including fast fills, snare rolls, etc. It's all pretty precise. I haven't yet hooked it up to my PC with a midi cable (still need to find one that stretches) but I've seen some videos on youtube where people have programmed in real drum sounds and you would be hard pressed to think it was an electric kit in a blindfold test.

Bottom line: if you want to practice drums, get better limb independance, record your own music, or just have a bit of fun rocking out to your favourite bands, you can't beat this Alesis DM5 Electronic Drum kit for the price.
