I Bought A Flats Lite Kit 5 Years Ago, And It's St
I bought a flats lite kit 5 years ago, and it's still going strong! I don't use the original snare, and use a 13x4 Pearl which fits the Flats carry bag no problem. I have two kits, the second being Remo Acousticon which has a BIG sound, but almost invariably I use the flats because of its portability and GREAT small group sound. But I can also use it with a big band too, and along with my priceless Paiste Formula 602 cymbals, (collected over many years), the kit sounds sweet. In any case MOST drummers are too damn loud anyway, but the flats perform incredibly well.
Don't hesitate, GET SOME. (I can even do gigs in my wife's Cayman!)

My Arbiter Flats Lite Kit Has Had 5 Years Thrashin
My Arbiter Flats lite kit has had 5 years thrashing, and keeps coming back for more. Can sound excellent, but is very room dependant. Cannot be thrashed - simply chokes up. Better using light sticks and miking up, which it does well [snare drum doesn't rattle when hitting rest of kit - great for recording.]

Arbiter Flats Have A Good Sound Except For The Dul
Arbiter flats have a good sound except for the dull bass sound. Overall, it's a good buy.

I Feel The Arbiter Flats Lite Snare Could Be A Bit
I feel the Arbiter Flats lite snare could be a bit more polyphonal on the range of note able to be played...
there is little difference between the outside edge and smack bang in the centre.
also the mounting system is a little shaky at times.
overall a reasonable kit. I would recommend it...

The Cymbals Are Long Lasting, But Of A Poor Sound
The cymbals are long lasting, but of a poor sound quality. The bass drum is this drum kit's weak point, it doesn't have the sound characteristics of a normal 5 piece drum kit. The nuts and bolts on this kit are terrible, I found myself having to buy extras on more than one occasion, due to the threads being wore down. The hi-hat after 6m onths gave in and the lift mechanism stopped working.
This kit however, is fine for occasional use, the overall sound quality isn't bad and it is great for moving around the house.
I would recommend this kit to anybody wanting to take up drums, to get a feel of the general sound and characteristics of a normal acoustic drum kit.
I agree with this review because... as a drummer who has had experience with this kit over the past 6 years i feel all was fair comments, the bass drum is the weak point, and the cymbals arn' t manufactured for heavy use.
but i disagree with the hihat comment. im still using mine as a second hat and its lasted 6 years travelling across great Britain many a time...
