I Have Had Many Guitars, Even A Gibson Explorer. T
I have had many guitars, even a Gibson Explorer. The Gibson SG Voodoo is the best sounding and best playing guitar I have ever had. The action is wonderful, the pickups are hot, and the fact that the markers are not on the neck makes no difference. This thing blows away both of my Stratocasters. I use the Strats for light stuff and the Gibson for Heavy Metal. I would like to see Tony Iommi try out one of these. It would sound great.
Thumbs up! This is one guitar that I will never trade in, especially since they are now very rare.

Gibson SG Voodoo - Looking at my SG Voodoo, I am still getting eager to play it more and more. Its look is unique and cool. Playing this guitar I have to say that there are very likely tons of better guitars out there. Its permanent tuning instability that you will feel is nothing compared to the massive effect on tuning if you allow only a slight change in room temperature. (I mean SLIGHT!!)
The neck is so sensitive that playing chords with only a bit too much pressure will make your Voodoo sound awful.
If that is not enough criticism: The neck coils stopped working after only 10 month of playing it. This guitar plays well and fast but watch it closely if you should consider buying one.
I disagree with this review because... I too have a Voodoo SG and have found very little if no neck movement at all. SG's necks are glued in and have been for 40 years or more. Gibson would have definitely had some complaints about shrinking or bending necks from slight temperature changes and hence wouldn't have the excellent name that they have for fantastic actions and playability on almost all of their models. Especially from the early nineties onwards (they have nailed it). No, I find that most players, even of twenty years and more, are not stringing their instruments correctly. By winding the string on to the post low and from the inside out of course,a couple of turns and then threading the end of the string back through the post hole (above the winds). This ensures that the wound on string moves up the tapered post and tightens up onto the end of the string that you have just put through the hole. Hey presto! no slippage. This can improve the tuning stability by up to 40% or more and then you know for sure if your having neck issues.
