I've Been Playing For About 21 Years Or So. I Own

I've been playing for about 21 years or so. I own a Fender American Standard Strat and an Ovation A/E 12-string, model 1768. Despite all its flaws and high price, this guitar is a great addition to my small collection. I'm 100% convinced the guitar is worth the money. The main selling point for me was the aesthetics of the guitar. It's really one of the most beautiful guitars I've seen. The body shape is very elegant, and the finish is just incredible. The only other thing I wish it had was the power to let me play like Joe whenever I pick it up.

I Bought The Ibanez 1000 Electric Guitar In The Co

I bought the Ibanez 1000 electric guitar in the colour 'burnt transparent blue' (btb), and they retail at between £1,200 - £1,400... so an expensive guitar. The reason it only gets a 7 for value for money is because there are many other guitars in the same league that retail at half, or less this price (eg, Strat USA, LP Standard).

This guitar, do not underestimate this statement, is the nicest guitar to play... EVER.

It is very light because of its basswood body. Despite an actually quite chunky body, it feels small and close in a good way (while keeping the 25.5" scale length).

The neck is slightly thinner than most (19mm...I think), which is comfortable to the hand.

The body is so curvy it's ridiculous, but brilliant!

The bolt-on neck joint is angled, and some of the body around the neck is contoured, allowing easy access to the 22nd fret on the 6th string if needed.

The strap pins are big, and there is no doubt that they will not let go of your strap no matter how crazy you go with your guitar.

The bridge is almost flat with the body (unlike original Floyd rose trems).

The bridge clamps down on the strings with pads to help with tuning stability when using the trem, and the nut also clamps down onto the strings to help the guitar stay in tune, and the Gotoh tuners do a great job too.

The hardware is chrome (sorry, it might be steel? not sure) but it is tinted black. It leaves all the hardware a shiny, see-through greyish colour... OK, my description isn't very good, but I love what they have done to it.

The tremolo arm simply pops in, and the washers (which DO wear out. Direct from Ibanez Japan is the only place to get replacements that I know of at a cost of... I believe 50p each) Clip over the arm to adjust the tightness of the arm.

The finish is GORGEOUS! Dark blue with burnt patches, and wood grain showing through. Beautiful. Of course there are white and metallic black versions available too.

This guitar has abalone dot inlays on its rosewood fingerboard. They are slightly smaller than a strat's dots, and are very beautiful, and compliment the guitar's 'dark' appearance.

The headstock logo is done with gold leaf which is beautiful.

This guitar has Dimarzio pickups, the bridge pickup was designed by/with Joe Satriani, and the neck pickup is a Paf Pro. This guitar sounds very unique. The pickups are beautiful together. They do not have the amazing sparkly highs of a LP, or the 'growls' of a PRS, but it has its own unique and lovely tone.

The bridge pickup is trebbly and gives clear-sounding/umm...separate?/clearly defined? notes. It's great for rocking out and being able to produce awesome harmonics with your metal riffs, or it's great for classic rock with a slightly stratty tone when the coil tap is on.

The neck pickup is sweet and warm, and everything you would want from a neck pickup.

Both pots (volume and tone) can be pulled out to activate two unique features. Both when pulled out still allow the volume and tone controls to be used, while the other feature(s) is/are activated.

The tone pulls out and uses only one coil of each pickup, therefore making a twangy, though weaker, sound.

The volume pulls out to activate a high-pass filter, that lets you keep the treble as the volume is turned down.

The coil tap combined with the 3-way switch provides this guitar with 6 positions.

It is the easiest guitar to play, and definitely the most comfortable to play. It has an awesome tone, and is so versatile, from blues to rock. The pricing might be a little steep for an Ibanez, but this is a great guitar. It was made for the renowned guitarist Joe Satriani, so listen to some of his music to get an idea of how this guitar sounds.

Coupled with a set of 9's this is the perfect rock guitar... Although I have to warn you. Even though my guitar has been perfect, I have known others to have problems with the bridge, nut, and a difference in weight, but this could be an unlucky unit, but be careful. It's like any guitar, so make sure you give it a thorough demo, and test several of these guitars, because no one guitar is exactly the same as the other... There you go! Your own unique guitar!

Seriously, I wrote this review because this in my opinion. An amazing all-round guitar. Great for rock!
