Aa Mini Led Maglite
This is the obvious case of to many substandard foreign components with the classic "Made in the U.S.A." flag stickers all over it. The Led components and the circuit boards are all flawed brand new, the only thing that may actually be made at old Mr. Mags Ontario factory is probably the aluminum casting. When I was a student of Electronic Engineering we all new the importance of high quality contacts to assure proper operation. Obviously there are no American Electronic Engineers involved in this new double AA flashlight. The contacts all produce a non conductive oxide deposit when the electrical current is flowing. The components affected with the oxide are: Spring,Contacts,Circuit boards, Switch Ring. Most of you don't have a microscope to see this, but I have documented this. Hence all the issues with the light not working and the problems everyone is having with these. All the contacts in this flashlight are made out of this oxidizing metal. No amount of cleaning or shaking or solvent will ever stop the corrosion of the components. The oxide is produced through electrolysis between the reactive contact metals and the aluminum case even when it is sitting on the shelf with no batteries. When electricity is flowing non conductive oxide production is faster on the contacts. The only thing that can help this Maglite is to actually produce some of the electronics components in a factory that is not weaponizing our infrastructure with this flawed stuff. So the new AA LED Maglite is broken brand new and not worth betting your life on for sure. Sincerely, William Hayes

I Have Had Maglites For Years And Thought The Earl
I have had Maglites for years and thought the earlier incandescent ones were pretty good. But the LED one is brilliant. It does all the things the old version did just better and brighter.
mine has been used in really adverse conditions. It has been dropped from height, left on under floorboards for weeks, dropped in water and generally abused. It still is in great shape and works as wellas the day I bought it.

As Is The Case With Just About Anything That Claim
As is the case with just about anything that claims to do all sorts of fancy tricks as extra features, it doesn't do any of them real well, and each detracts from the basic flashlight function. It doesn't need to signal the space shuttle it needs to throw a beam of light in the direction you point it, when you turn it ON. It only stands about a one in five chance of doing that, and is just as likely to start strobing or SOSing right in the middle of whatever you're doing. What it needs is an ON / OFF switch. Was a time the most a flashlight could do to aggravate you was not work. Not no mo'.

I Have Purchase Over Fifteen (15) Of The 3 Watt Le
I have purchase over fifteen (15) of the 3 Watt LED Mini-Mag lights for all of my employees. They are FANTASTIC. If you are having ANY problems, replace the batteries, then clean all of the electrical surfaces which includes the inside contact with an eraser, the threads with a degreaser acetone or nail polish remover, the base contacts and the spring. THEY WORK PERFECTLY ALL OF THE TIME AND ARE VERY DURABLE!
I have 2 of them, both a year old. One is dead and the other constantly malfunctions. Are you an employee of Mag?

Talk About Taking A Backwards Step From The Old Ma
Talk about taking a backwards step from the old maglights!!!
1. no hole for a string
2. led light cuts out all the time
3. electronic parts corrode easily and then need to be cleaned regularly but its not possible due to the new design fixing parts into the tube.
4. no spare led bulb (the original has broken so thats handy if your in the dark ) not
5. more expensive
A big thumbs down

1. Who the heck uses a lanyard on the 2 AA Mag lites? The new ones have the old style tailcaps. 2 There has been a known issue with the contacts in the head of the first gen LED mags. Its called Improvments. Theyre making them. Use Mag Lites warranty. 4 LED's should NEVER need replacing under normal use. With a life expectancy of over 10,000 hours. thats 416 Days of constant on... Or 1.13 years.

I Had 2 Led Maglites The 3 Watt And The Multimode.
I had 2 Led Maglites the 3 watt and the multimode. In my opinion the 3 watt maglight has little if any more light output than the non-3 watt advertised version (SP2209HJ) Look for the package with multi mode electronic switch. The 3 watt version will not have the 4 modes and in my opinion because there is no 25% power mode it is a battey hog with little if any additional light output. The multi version is the one to get. I'm really disapointed that MagLite has chosen to hide their specifications such as lumen output and battery life. Their box and their website has no specifications. BAD BAD BAD. If you guys at maglight read this I took the 3 watt back to the store and got my money back so hiding the specs will not please your customers and lead to returns.

I work in the electrical maintenance field. I purchased one of these after a co-worker had shown his to me. Worked great at first, really impressed with the brightness. But then it happened,my co-worker dropped his from a height of about 2 feet and his LED light quit working. About a month later I dropped mine from a heigth of about three feet and it quit working. Busted circuit board or LED. Either way, for 27 dollars and mag-lites reputation for durabilty I and my co-worker were very disappointed.Working in the maintenance field, plus in chemical plants you expect your flashlight to be able to handle a small drop. Therefore I will not spend that much again for a delicate flashlight.

I've Maglite Aa - 16 Years Without Any Problems. 2
I've Maglite AA - 16 years without any problems. 2D and solitaire are also solid products. Bought 2AA Led 2 months and soon noticed that it does not work with rechargeable batteries! while the industry is generally moving towards more sustainable and "green", the Maglite seems to move elsewhere...
Now, it seems that the AA Led is dead - even the alkaline batteries don't work.
I found this review not helpful because... the reviewer only reviews one aspect of the light, the type of batteries it accepts, and is completely wrong about it. I used my mag leds as edc lights for around 2 years and ONLY used rechargeable cells. Not only do they run fine on rechargeables, but runtime is pretty good.
