Lions Midget Gems

I’m 77 years old and have binged on midget gems ( lions of course) for most of my life( so far) tried copy cat items also called midget gems from many other manufactures such as Maynard ( not too bad) and Aldi copies (awful) Just bought 2 small packets from a local shop and found, from both packets, one black one!

As this is the flavour I like the most I examined the packets to see if there was a ‘political’ reason for this omission and actually found a message on the packet saying ‘ liquorice flavour included!

Yeah! One sweet! Now maybe there is a world wide shortage of liquorice or something like, but, without the ‘ black ones’ they ain’t lions midget gems anymore?

We've actually been an item for decades now.

I'm closing in on 60 and the last time I binged on Midget Gems was 16 years ago whilst on holiday in England, how sad is that?

Many a time I wish I had a bucket of these iconic sweets with real flavours and real memories.

(just so you know these sweeties hid very well down a sock at a 'sweet free school' in England during the 1960's)

I've been eating and enjoying Lion's Midget Gems for well over 50 years. They're just so damn good. About 25 years ago my wife bought me a 7lb box for Christmas - they'd all gone by New Years Day!! I can't get enough of 'em and they are still great value for money.

They are not nowadays as easy to come across as they used to be and there are far too many very poor imitations on the market. Even so, if you know where to look you'll find a Lion's stockist in every town. Happy hunting.

Lion midget gems - aahhhhh heaven !! I'm 60 and have been eating them at a rather too prolific rate since I was a lad in short pants. I just love 'em.

The other manufacturers, and that means ALL of them, don't even come close to Lion. My wife buys them for me and she knows to get only Lion's.

The range of sweets at Lions Midget Gems was astronomical. It really is an old fashioned sweet shop in poole!!! The fudge was probably th ebest though, and the rhubarb and custard sweets, and the uncle joes mint balls and the aniseed balls and .....

Do not entertain any other brand but LIONS Original Midget Gems. These sweets have been with me for over 50 years.In all that time they remain addictive and far superior to any other pretender. I x Black and 1 x Green eaten at the same time, still does it for me after all those years.
