Don't Bother.
Bitterly disappointed with this particular product. I'm usually a fan of the Finest range from Tesco but the Lancashire hotpot is definitely not one of their successes.
Although the meat and vegetables were well cooked, any flavour they may have had was completely overpowered by the sauce which was cloyingly unpleasant. The portion size was a little small and overall the hotpot resembled airline food but without the benefit of a holiday at the end.
Tasty Tesco Finest* Lancashire Hotpot
I received a coupon for £3.60 off the price of a Tesco finest* ready meal, through the Tesco Orchard website. After looking at the selection of meals I finally picked the Tesco finest* Slow Braised Lancashire Hotpot and I certainly wasn't disappointed. The meal only took 25 minutes to cook in the oven from chilled and it tasted lovely. The lamb was tender, and there was a good amount in there too. Whenever I've had ready meals from other stores I've found that the quantity of meal was disappointing, so I was very happy to see that Tesco hadn't skimped on the best part of the meal!
The vegetables complimented the lamb perfectly, as did the rich red wine sauce. The potatoes were slightly crispy round the edges and soft on the inside - just how I like them! The price of meal (£3.60) is a reasonable price for the size of the meal. It was filling and delicious. Perfect for those winter nights when you get home late from work and are too tired to cook from scratch or just fancy having a night off from cooking. I would definitely buy this meal again.
