Coffee Needs Improving
As a barista the coffee looked dreadful. The americano had no crema and was quite watery. The cappuccino was 'chunky' the foam was too dense and not smooth and silky as you would get anywhere else. Coffee training is needed for sure!
Cakes looked enticing and good range in the menu. Lovely and warm very welcoming

Worst Cafe Ever!!!!!
Arrived on Sunday at 3.15 to be told they were closing even though the garden centre was open for another hour or more. Managed to persuade the rudest man serving to provide a coffee a glass of milk and 2 pieces of cake. 2 more groups arrived shortly after to be told the same and then ignored. The cost was expensive for what we got. Will not be returning!!!

Fantastic
I went for lunch today with my husband and parents and can't praise the food and staff enough ! My husband and I had the roast, which was really lovely, hot and the vegetables were cooked beautiful. My Dad had the fish which he said was delicious and my Mum had the scampi which she thoroughly enjoyed, but by far she enjoyed her dessert the most, which was Lemon Meringue pie. A huge slice of deliciousness indeed !
All the staff were very friendly and helpful, we can't praise them enough.
We highly recommend to anyone who wants a good, home cooked meal. We will certainly be going back.

They Don't Deserve The Business
What a rude man serving, he will run the business into the ground. Food was poor. When I suggested they had seated us in an inconvenient place because I am in a wheelchair and had to disturb a lit of people to get to out table were told it was the only table with enough room for my wheelchair! A helpful business would have moved some chairs or tables and thought about where to seat a wheelchair user, especially as the table was pre-booked. Excuses, and weak ones were made about the table and a very reluctant apology. We will not be going back, when there are plenty of cafes and restaurants who will offer much more and some common courtesy! The nursery has some good plants but they are overpriced. All in all very disappointing.
Haven't Been Here For A Long So Decided To Go Back
haven't been here for a long so decided to go back even after reading some of the reviews. My partner and her aunt entered the cafe while I parked the car, they sat at a table for 4 and was immediately accosted by the "rude man" who asked them to move to a smaller table until they explained I was to join them(I wasn't told about this until we got home if I had known we would have left).A very nice waitress took our order,I ordered steak and kidney pie. What arrived was a soup plate of stewed meat with a piece of pastry plonked on top.The dictionary says a pie is a pastry top covering a filling and baked in the oven, not cooked separately and put together at the last second. The food was not seasoned,I know you can add salt and pepper after but its not the same. The chef should be ashamed to call themselves a cook, and as for the prices they are akin to a 3 star hotel.YOUR A GARDEN CENTRE stop being pretentious bring your prices down and get a decent chef who knows what a pie is.As for the rude man he must own the place or only rude men are employed there .

Rudest Man In The Cafe
Wish we'd read the previous review before venturing into the cafe. Unfortunately, we encountered the rudest man I've ever met.
We arrived at 12.30 and were surprised to see the cafe virtually empty. We hadn't visited for a couple of years and it was always packed.
We went to sit down and immediately a man approached us. He immediately pounced on our 5 year old son. 'Sit properly' he said, 'you've got muddy boots on'. My son was wearing trainers, which were not muddy. He was adjusting himself so as to sit properly. We would not never allow our son to put his feet up and certainly do not need some man to tell us how to behave.
We were taken back by his rudeness and decided that we would leave rather than endure his surly approach to his customers.
Such a pity, this was a lovely cafe.
We won't return

Garden Centre Excellent But Cafe Is Another Story!
I went with a friend and two children for tea and cake and I can honestly say I have never had such rude service in my life.
It was 3.10pm when we arrived and we were told in a very abrupt fashion that we could not sit in the café as he was about to vacuum the floor and we would have to go to the settees in the entrance - oh and "we shut at 4PM".
This was not an ideal start as we basically felt that we were a complete inconvenience to him - sitting at a table would have been far easier with the children and there were still at least four tables sitting in the main café area. If I had not had to be home by a certain time I would have left and gone elsewhere. Also it was 50 MINUTES before they were due to close so it wasn't like we were popping in with 5 minutes to go.
Anyway he duly came and took our order in a very rushed fashion again in his abrupt tone and again made us feel that we were a total nuisance to him.
The drinks and food came - they were plonked onto the table and off he rushed. I went up to the counter at about 3.30pm to ask for an extra teacake - my children had polished off my scone and their own teacake they were sharing. Not a big request but it was met with a roll of the eyes a big huff and then an ok. The stapler he was holding got banged onto the counter top and off he went into the kitchen muttering under his breath (I never knew putting a tea cake in a toaster was such a big request!!!)
Anyway it arrived at out table - banged down this time without so much as a word and off he waltzed to carrying on re-stocking the drinks in the chiller (the vacuum still had not appeared by this time nor had it been switched on by the time we left).
I realise that he may have been having a bad day but when you go into an establishment and PAY for customer service, something I think is a big part of a café, you at least expect to be spoken to in a civil manner.
It is a great shame as I have eaten in this café many times and I always thought the food was good and reasonably priced. Also the garden centre itself and the shop are excellent and we have our hanging baskets done here every year and are always very pleased.
Will definitely never return here to eat and would encourage the owners of the establishment to spend time in the café so they can see how their member of staff behaves to their customers.
We've have just had a similar experience with this man
