Hedgecutter

Don't waste your money on this terrible hedge cutter. I went out and bought a proper one within a month.

My Rating Appears At Odds With All Others. Perhaps

My rating appears at odds with all others. Perhaps because it is an older machine. I have had it for 16 years and it has been fault free and has run well, cutting beech and leylandii hedges. Last year it developed a starting fault which I traced to a split in the carb. diaphragm. I repaired this and it is now running again.

Because of its age I have been looking for a replacement and one useful point is overlooked in technical information; Namely the fuel/oil ratio. An oil rich mixture is choking when cutting close to a tall hedge in windless conditions.

Absolute Junk, And Worse, Dangerous Junk!

Absolute junk, and worse, dangerous junk!

Starting problems from new.

Unsecured push fit petrol pipes come off spraying petrol onto hot engine. I had to wire-lock these in place.

Primer bulb leaks air into the fuel pipes, stalling engine.

Bolts securing the main cover and fuel tank vibrated loose repeatedly, resulting in the petrol tank dangling from the (now wired in place) pipes! I eventually applied threadlock to the bolts, but the vibration then sheared them.

Only good point is the very good cutter blade.

My advice: Either pay more for a 4 stroke machine, or buy a cordless machine and spare batteries. A hedgetrimmer used only a couple of hours a year should last 20 years. The Tivoli didn't last 2!

Mcculloch Tivoli 63 Petrol Hedge Cutter

McCulloch Tivoli 63 Petrol Hedge Cutter

I have had it for 14 months - it has always been difficult to start. The pamphlet is not a great help.

Took it back to Machine Mart who replaced the cord winder. It was still difficult to start.

I stopped it half way though cutting the hedge, when I went to restart, it would not. I lost faith in Machine Mart amnd I have taken it to an independent who has stripped it and rebuilt it. There are no apparent problems but he cannot start it.

It is out of warranty. I have wasted my money.

My advice. Do not buy one of these and think seriously before purchasing any other McCulloch equipment.

A pity I did not find this website until after I had bought my McCulloch Tivoli 63. As this reviewer has remarked - a waste of money. I have had starting problems since the day I bought it for my home in France.

A local rural independent farming machinery dealer/service centre in France who I took it to (I have used him quite a lot over the years)refused to even look at it - a waste of time - he maintained that most of the McCulloch kit he had previously dealt with was "camelotte", which is French for trash. Just not worth the effort and damage to his reputation - in addition to the aggravation and cost to his customers for a very short-term fix.

Do not buy!!

The Mcculloch Tivoli 63 Petrol Hedge Cutter Has A

The McCulloch Tivoli 63 Petrol Hedge Cutter has a powerful cut, it managed my large laurel hedge in an afternoon, but I feel it is a poor starter. Mine took a long time to start first time but when I tried it again this spring, it would not go. It is back with the shop now who refunded me my money without any problems.

I do not think mine was a reliable piece of kit and in my opinion it was not worth the money

I Live In France And Bought The Mcculloch Tivoli H

I live in France and bought the McCulloch Tivoli hedge cutter in the UK. When I returned home I had great difficulty starting it. Eventually I got it going but it ran just for 5 minutes and was then impossible to restart. I sought help from Husqvarna UK who took 24 days to answer my email messages and then said it was not their problem under the guarantee. I put the machine with a repairer who contacted Husqvarna France; they argued for three weeks that my guarantee was not valid in France. Eventually I wrote to Husqvarna Italy where the machine is made; they instructed Husqvarna France to repair it under guarantee.

Then followed a "pantomime" where a repairer replaced the broken ignition rotor after which the same part broke immediately. The machine was then replaced and upon arrival I tried to start it and had the same problems. The ignition rotor was again broken. I demanded and obtained a refund. You buy this machine at your peril, I believe it has a serious fault.

The machine was a nightmare and dealing with this company was also dreadful.

Obviously I am not happy with the short life of this McCulloch Tivoli 63 Petrol Hedge Cutter, at 15 months old it started to get very hot and stopped and i have been told that it will not be cost effective to have it repaired.
