Problematic Boiler Dont Bother

This was recommended by installing plumber now granted it is around 8 years old the issues have been a new pcb or mainboard, a new exchanger valve i.e switching between ch or hw as radiators were heating up when hot tap was run and hot water was warm due to this, expansion tank needing never ending re-inflation have now had an external one fitted!a new pressure guage fitted the external thermostat renewed ( i know thats not baxis fault a pain nonetheless) now an e160 error frequently cutting the boiler off which means a new fan unit this boiler is poor do not be taken in by big names it has cost me a fortune in repairs boilers are supposed to have a 15 year life mine will be renewed with new parts by then

Your platignum boiler should have had a 10 year Baxi warranty as long as it was registered with Baxi and serviced each year so all the repair would have been done as part of warranty by Baxi excellent service team

Poor Quality Components Mean Regular Breakdowns

My Baxi was installed 7 years ago, and came with a five year guarantee - thank goodness.

During that time it has had two replacement expansion tanks, and various other bits replaced.

The expansion tank has just failed again. That makes FOUR in seven years, if you include the original one.

Baxi cannot explain why this happens, just tell me they normally last for many years. They blame my system, which is serviced annually and is protected by a magnetic sludge-remover. They can't tell me what I can do to prevent future failures.

My plumber tells me that my boiler is a record-breaker - he has never replaced a pressure vessel more than once on a Baxi boiler.

Replacement costs £200, so that averages £100 per year, on top of normal running & maintenance costs.

Although it works well when it is working, it is too much of a worry and too expensive to keep going.

I would not buy another

Don't understand why the replacement cost £200!.

Expansion vessel cost about £40-£60

Labour cost £40

Total = £100

Only had to replace one expansion on a Baxi and that was over 12 years only!

People have had enough from Baxi. There is a campaign building up a head of steam to get them to FINALLY take responsibility for their actions.

Boiler Makes Banging Noises

Boiler makes loud banging noises at times even when on standby called out engineer he said this was normal

Due to expansion . He said this was a careristic of this boiler.

All other points of this boiler are great. This is a platinum combi he fitted in

2014 Febuary. Does anybody else have this problem.

Probably The Worst Boiler In The World

The worst boiler in the world. 15 days and counting without hot water or heating due to this piece of rubbish. Breaks down every year without fail. Don't buy in any circumstance.

Not Worth The Money

I paid a lot of money with extended cover for my boiler 2 years ago. Since then I've had nothing but bother. Worst boiler I have ever had. I wasn't told at time of purchase that the remote thermostat isn't covered by Baxi and that has broke twice. Also the magnaclean system is constantly leaking and the Baxi engineer said that isn't covered either so I will have to pay someone to fix that. Only buy one of these if you are happy to put up with constant hassle and expence.

Useless Service From Baxi

My gran has moved into new house with baxi boiler installed, paid baxi to come and service boiler. They were unable to remove case due to screws heads being murdered by someone.

I phoned baxi to ask them if they could revisit and remove screws and service boiler, they told me they do not do this and I will have to phone a private company to do this.

What a load of tosh, do not buy a baxi boiler as after service is useless

Expensive To Maintain

Boiler installed 7 years ago, serviced every year but still had minor niggles over the guarantee period, recently had a new expansion tank and now a heat exchanger needs to be fitted, two leaks recently repaired.

Expensive boiler to maintain, I will look for a better quality boiler when I replace this Baxi.

They come with a 10 year warranty so how come your paying for repairs?

Buy If You Like Pain

We got these boilers installed after hurricane sandy. Since then we have had nothing but hell. Our original plumber who installed these had a mental breakdown and was institutionalized (not a joke) from the issues these boilers gave. I miss my old boilers that never have me any issues. These sad excuses for new technology are terrible.

Problems After 4 Years

The boiler was fitted with a Magnatron when installed in March 2006. It was registered for the guarantee of 5 years. The first water leak was in December 2007. Then again in 2009. Since then there have been leaks, currently awaiting repair man to see to another! He only came last week to sort out one at the other side of the boiler. The heat exchanger has been flushed out twice, a valve component has had to be replaced and on each occasion the system was flushed out. Whilst the boiler does give a good flow of hot water for the power shower etc, it is not the reliable boiler that I thought it would be, bearing in mind the price that I paid. Even the engineer who has repaired it was not happy with it. At my previous house the boiler there had been in for many years with no trouble. Is this because it was not a combi boiler?

Q&A

daveygftm

My Baxi 105 HE is leaking water from a threaded hole in the bottom of the water diverter valve, only leaks when it is calling for hot water. Any thoughts on this?

gjpage

I have had this in use for only a few weeks newly installed but gas consumption on a daily basis is about 4 units on the meter per day compared to 1.6 units on similar days on a Baxi Combi 105E.

Should this boiler be at least as efficient in terms of usage as a much older Combi?

diplip

I have just noticed that my Baxi Combi HE circulating pump starts up once every 10 minutes or so (the little green light comes on) and runs for about 1 minute. Then I assume the flue fan kicks into operation for 2mins. I know that the pump should start for 1 minute once every 24 hours if it has not been used according to the user manual. The boiler was installed in March 2014. Any suggestions why this is happening?

cindymrs

I have only had boiler installed for 2 weeks and it continues to turn itself on and off during the night whenever it feels like it. I have had the receiver changed yesterday but this has not made a difference. I am worried that it comes on during the day when I am not there, and will end up costing me money. I have to set 5 timers on my one, but I have only programmed one to a certain temperature to come on at 16:00. but it is coming on between 4 & 5 in the morning then again at 6 and turning itself off at 7. I have paid over £3000 to have boiler and new radiators fitted and am very worried I have wasted my money. Any help would be appreciated.
