Cannot Believe The Reviews.
Am amazed at bad reviews. We had ours fitted March 2008. Never been a problem. Works perfectly. Its serviced every year and just been serviced again 2 weeks ago. The engineer stated its working perfectly and no problems. It has not cost me 1 penny apart from the annual insurance and service fee. Far better than previous boiler in this house and the ones in previous houses by many a mile.

Twelve And A Half Years In
Had my isar HE30 installed along with new central heating system by British Gas in March 2006 and it is still working now (Dec 2018) all be it-just. Looking thro all these reviews I am amazed how bad these boilers have been for other people and how relatively well I have faired with mine. Over the years it has had a new pump at around 6 years, a new diverter valve at around 8 years, a new pcb at around nine years and now last week a new part wiring harness (with the insulation literally peeling off the old wires and causing earthing out faults).
I have had a British Gas homecare plan on it through its time so have not had to pay for parts or labour but this time around the gas engineer told me that it is now on its last legs (mainly as parts are now getting hard to obtain, apparently).
I didn't think 12/13 year life was particularly good for a modern boiler, but by God I seem to have done well looking at other peoples nightmares experiences of this unit.
However next time around I will do my research this time around and not rely on the so called professional expertise of British Gas for a recommendation of boiler choice and it definitely will not be another Ideal.
It's Been Ok As Boiler Go
Had mine 10 years had some problems circuit board went a few leak over the years but not been a bad boiler very affectionate on gas maybe iv been lucky looking at the reviews
Piece O Faeces
This Ideal HE30 isar boiler was installed when I was on income based benefits and had two kids at home, couldn't believe my luck. It replaced an old boiler that worked. It breaks down again and again, every day this week I have had to turn it off and on again once or twice a day to re fire it. When it was installed I was told I would not need an immersion heater so I got rid of it to free up storage space, this means I have no hot water when the boiler is not working. This last 12 months I have had about three/four weeks without hot water or heating and taken four days annual leave just to stay home to wait for the engineer, other times my wonderful neighbour lets them in the house, she is doing that again for me next week. Because it breaks down over and over again, I have to pay the breakdown cover which is £15 a month(going up to £17 soon), so my free boiler is costing £180+ a year, every year; I could save that for a new boiler if this one wasn't so unreliable. It is a rubbish, rubbish boiler and as another review says, the heating is sometimes on when the control panel says it isn't. One of my colleagues has just got rid of her HE30 and just replaced it because she is so fed up with the thing. I'm not in a position to do that yet.
So folks, if someone offers you an HE30, just say 'No, even if it's free because it will just cost you a fortune.
Nightmare Ideal Isar He30
I totally agree with all the reviews
I have had mine (Warmfront) 7 years
and bg call outs every year pcb, heat exchanger
blocked trays flooded from bathroom down to kitchen
2 years ago and now waiting for bg because leaking
from underneath I agree not fit for purpose
we need compensation for the money paid out on
repairs.

Good As Any Other
Had The Isar HE30 installed 8 years ago, less problems than my neighbours Worcester Bosch which is not as old. Average life of a modern boiler is around 10 - 15 years, not good by any standards. Generally pleased with this product. Three call outs in 8 years ain't bad for a modern boiler.

Worst Boiler I Have Had.
Moved into this house 9 months ago and the boiler has continually given problems, even though it has been serviced and maintained by BG since new (8 years ago).
Put the Central Heating on recently and now it has completely died on us.
Researched the boiler before buying the house but never thought it would be as bad as it is.

Doesn't Really Get Much Worse Than This!
Have to agree with the other reviews that this really is a waste of money. Mine needed new circuit boards after a few months which cost hundreds, it's been a catalogue of failures since. Since learning the hard way I'll ensure I buy a Worcester in future, it's one of those things in life that's worth paying that bit extra for.
Government don,t call it boiler scrappage scheme for nothing, they use old boilers make of scrap to replace them. They cost you the earth to keep them running, lifespan less than 6 years if you're lucky Carbon footprint is the buzzword to fool us all, just spend taxpayer money better and buy more voters.

The Worst Thing I Ever Spent My Money On
The best thing anyone can do with an isar h30 is take a hammer tlo it. Had it fitted in 2005 and have had an enginerr out to it every 3 months. It has had all parts replaced numerous times. Even the british gas team are now scratching their heads. No heating. Or hot water for 7 days now. Got head honcho coming out now. Wont fire upand just vibrates then shuts down. Had to buy halogen heaters for all rooms got a son who is arthritic at 19 yrs old and needs heat to even get mobile and a 4 yr and a 7yr. The only 1 saving grace is i have british gas home care for boiler, but even that has it downsides. Started off paying £16 pm but due to amount of call outs and work done on boiler im paying £27pm. Someone please just tell me how to fix. My boiler. Even ideal do not have any answers
Turn off the gas take it off the wall chop it up for firewood by best advice.

Definately Not Recommended - Avoid
Had this boiler fitted in June 2005 and very dissapointed plumber didn't fit a Worcester Bosch one, reading everybody else's stories i'm one of the lucky ones!! Not had any pcb problems but from day one it sounds like a gun going off when you turn a hot tap on whilst the heatings running - quite alarming, told by various people who have serviced it (allegedly!!) over the years under various service plans thats its a bad design and be grateful its actually working. The main problem with mine is a very slight leak that drips water out of the now rusting main casing - last independent plumber who serviced it said he'd sealed a leak on the flue, I recon its been leaking for three or four years now but service contractors say "all ok, no problems" in other words can't be bothered. Decided to investigate odd smell tonight and found water dripping out of casing onto floor just missing the dreaded pcb board - don't suppose theres any point in buying a sevrice/breakdown plan as any fault will be rejected as an existing fault - just hope it limps on for another year or so before I have to either get it fixed or scrap it
Who said the titanic ship was not recycled this was the same boiler use to power the !!!****):^ ship.
Q&A
My Boiler has been recently been serviced by Heath & Co. Since then the Burner is giving problems - sometimes it comes on sometimes not. I tend to use the + extra hour when I use heating. Can anyone advise?
Can you help me please? I have a Ideal Isar HE30 and it's showing F.h fault code. What should I do?
I have water dripping out of the bottom of the boiler casing Isar HE24. Not obvious signs of a leak, condensation has formed on the top of the inner panel and dripping down over the workings. Is the vent pipe double purpose I.e centre tube out and outer air in?
