Potterton Gold 28 He Combi

This combi can be quite noisy when starting from cold you get some pump noise and gas burner noise, and then it settles down a bit when the rads are up to temp. Ours is in the old airing cupboard next to the bedrooms so it can be heard more easily, don't think you would hear it if it was down stairs in the kitchen etc It does provide an excellent shower which is only next door we have a aqualisa dual with a drencher head and it is very powerful and you get a constant hot flow which doesn't alter even if you use a tap or flush the toilet.2 year warranty going 3 months no probs so far

Have Had This Boiler (potterton Gold He 28)now For

Have had this boiler (Potterton Gold HE 28)now for just over 4 years, have had constant problems with leaks and E119 messages (which are now getting worse now the warranty has expired. having them about 3 to 4 times a day)... when the plumber that installed it say's this is quite common in this boiler....but we only got them about once a month (if that) when in warranty....

My sister has the same boiler but only gets the E119 message a couple of time a year (her's is newer)... so not sure if we got a bad boiler.... but certainly wouldn't have this one again.... and is costing us more in repairs now than the boiler itself.... wish it had a 5 yr warranty so we could just replace it.....

I have apotterton combi he plus promax 28

Think i have same problem my heating goes off now and again and have to put pressure up or turn on water for a while at tap . my service engineer found fault . is , Hydraulic inlet valve making pressure switch stick so he is coming out to fix

other engineers couldnt find fault as no warning number comes up . just a thought . could be £350 to fix wish i was all electric at least only bills to pay this boiler insurance is becoming like a motgage lol.

How's about a faulty low water pressure switch now that is absolutely something to do with the boiler that's a faulty part on the boiler and is common on this range?

E119 is low system pressure. absolutely nothing to do with the boiler. you have possibly been mis guided by your installer. Get a good reliable plumber!!!

Owned This Boiler Now For Almost 4 Years. I Bought

Owned this boiler now for almost 4 years. I bought this boiler because it came with a three year warranty, had a good A rating and was a Which? magazine recommendation. It is slightly noisier than boilers at other houses which I have lived in. In the past 4 years it has had about 5 breakdowns. The last one being major in that the inlet valve mecanism for mains water burst (made of cast brass) and it was like niagra falls coming out of the boiler. Luckily my boiler is in the garage so not too much damage to property. That coupled with E1 33 error messages requiring boiler resets every now and again, its annoying. Gas valve also just been replaced. I bought it for 'Rolls Royce' type quality/reliability. Would I buy another Potterton? No. It has not lived up to the hype. Like me I would suggest a service plan with Baxi HeatTeam after warranty expiry. IT WILL BE WORTH IT!

We Have The Potterton Gold 33 He Which Is Just The

We have the Potterton Gold 33 HE which is just the higher output version, it gives a great HW flow so no complaints there. The controls on the front of the boiler are very easy to understand & use. It's not the most attractive boiler out there but most of them will more than likely be tucked away in a cupboard.

My only real criticism so far is that it's quite a noisy boiler compared to others I've heard. My friend has an Alpha boiler & you can hardly hear it when it's running so I would bear this in mind if your boiler is in a location where the noise could be a nuisance like a bedroom!

From the beginning of this year the guarantee is only 2 years, but if you happened to get a boiler that has sat on the shelf for a while you could still get 3 years as I believe it depends on when the boiler was made (serial number)

I hope this Potterton is reliable as the one it replaces as that one had to be getting on for 20 years old & was still going but showing its age a little.

From what I've read on reviews Potterton / Baxi's seem to suffer a lot from PCB faults, a lot of the time this is nothing more than a bad solder joint, normally somewhere around one of the many plugs that connect to the PCB, I had this fault once with my old boiler and the engineer fixed it with a dab of solder! so if your told the PCB is faulty make sure the engineer has checked for bad solder joints on the PCB before you pay for a new one!

If he is a gas engineer he should not be tampering with Pcb repairs unless he has electronic qualification this will nulify housing insurance !
