Rubbish Boiler
I have had 2 of these Suprima 70 boilers in 2 different houses with the same reliability issues. PCB board fsilure being the main problem despite regular servicing. Also noisy and not particularly efficient.

I Have A Potterton Suprima He Boiler And After Two
I have a Potterton Suprima HE Boiler and after two and a half years it packed up because the PCB had gone down. This boiler was brand new in a new Bovis Property. It had been serviced by the Gas Board on an annual basis and NOT heavily used on a daily basis so either: Don't buy one in the first place or if you are stuck with it like we are get onto the Gas Board homecare contract. Our repair....new PCB cost £50.00 which I am sure would have been much more if we were not on the contract. Overall a very big disappointment and I have complained most strongly to Potterton and await their response!!!

Put In By Bovis Homes 8 Years Ago In Conjunction W
Put in by Bovis Homes 8 years ago in conjunction with a Boilermate 2000. Had 2 new circuit boards within the first 18 months and constantly locks out. Now leaking like a sieve along with sensor leads on Boilermate constantly failing.
I would like to have known about the problems before I purchased the house!

Had Loads Of Problems Within The First 2 Yrs Of Ha
Had loads of problems within the first 2 yrs of having a Potterton Suprima 50 Boiler. Luckily i have a Domestic and General policy on it as they have practically rebuilt it with all new (mods) parts. All is well now though and it's serviced yearly as per the policy. (touch wood!)..

I Have Had This Potterton Suprima 50 Boiler For Mo
I have had this Potterton Suprima 50 Boiler for more than 10 years and it is still going strong. I found the PCB on mine could be easily sorted by re-flowing all the dodgey solder joints on the back. I replaced the 2 thermostats, ignition lead and temerature adjuster for about £50 after 9 years as a matter of course. I fitted a System 50 scale eliminator for about £100 as boiler was scaling up inside and 'kettling/squealing'. A year later all is silent and working perfectly and no additives needed (another saving!)- probably for another 10 years!! Look after this boiler and it pays you back in spades. I am an electronics engineer so I have an advantage on the fixing side. Apparently replacing the temperature adjuster (knob on front bit) fixes a 'run-on' problem which can often by diagnosed as a PCB fault!!

I Have Had So Many Problems With My Potterton Supr
I have had so many problems with my Potterton Suprima 50 boiler I would not advise anybody to have one fitted.
The Potterton Suprima 50 Is A Simple Boiler And Mi
The Potterton Suprima 50 is a simple boiler and mine has problems with the pcb board and the gas valve.
Potterton will charge £299.00 to change the pcb and look the boiler over even though they created the problem.
You can buy a re-conditioned pcb on ebay and on the return of your old one receive a years guarantee for £62.50 inc postage.
The gas valve will cost £68.00 and any corgi Gas Fitter should be able to fit it and service the boiler for £60.00 as I have just done. total £190.50 a whole £108.50 cheaper than potterton to change just pcb. As I found: check around first there are easier ways than using the Potterton engineers.
This Potterton Suprima 50 Is A Problematic Boiler
This Potterton Suprima 50 is a problematic boiler that no one seems to be able to cure on a long term basis.
Potterton deny any problems with its parts although there are if you have a choice do not fit this boiler or you will regret it.

Q&A
In 2007 we had to replace the circuit board we now have to replace the fan. The boiler is around 12 years old do you think we should replace it?
