Worcester 24i

Worst **** ever have a Worcester 24i combi in my rental flat that is constantly breaking. Im not even in the flat more than a couple days a week and as soon as the cold weather kicks in and I want to have a warm shower or even do my dishes...SURPRISEEEEE no heating or hot water for me.

Seriously dont waste your time with it. If you move into a flat and they have one, request it to be changed adap because it's going to go when you need it most. Thankfully not my purchase. But unfortunately its installed in my flat instead of one that actually does it's job.

We are approved by Worcester as installers but I would still not reckomend them! Great customer service, great company etc but boilers are very average. In fact 5/10 is about where I would put the i junior and si range with the cdi range scraping a 6/10.

New central heating system with Worcester 24i boiler fitted in April 2011, now waiting for engineer to come and fix the latest fault. This will be the 4th problem in less than 18 months! Appliance serviced April 2012 and working fine. Tried to turn on central heating and boiler refuses to keep running, same thing happened last year. So far have had new heat exchanger fitted October 2011, new clock November 2011 and then the heat cell was also replaced. I am now the proud owner of an unreliable, cobbled together piece of junk. Engineers come within 2days to repair under warranty, blame each other for not sorting faults properly when questioned on reliability and is this normal. So I now wonder how much it is going to cost in 6 months time to keep it going. Next job will be to see if Worcester will extend the guarantee for 2years, or replace the whole thing or take it away and refund the money.

We got our favourite plumber (25 years doing jobs for us) to replace our 30-year-old Potterton, which hadn't missed a beat, 2 1/2 years ago, as we are concerned for the planet, felt we were on borrowed time with the old boiler, wanted to get the Government grant, and hoped to reduce our gas bills. The last objective has certainly been true, but partly, at least, because the Worcester Bosch 24i our plumber recommended has spent so much time not working! We can usually get it going again by holding the reset button, but what good is a central heating system which needs someone standing over the boiler constantly to reset it when it trips? While the boiler was still in warranty the fan broke, and it a took a week to get WB to come and replace it. Since then (apart from servicing), it has been attended to 3 times in 3 months, has had the PCB replaced (at WB recommendation, but our expense), but still trips out erratically every few days.

Seriously, the economy compared with our old boiler is impressive, but what we really don't like is that it is hopelessly unreliable, and we can have no confidence that it will keep going, for example if we go away in the winter, to stop the house freezing up. Should we cut our losses, write off around £2000 and try and find a decent new boiler? If so, what make - they all seem to have damning reviews?

Great boiler, easy to use and looks tidy. Had new combi, water pressure is now fab. heats up radiaters really quickly. very quiet.

Slighly more expensive than your average mainstream boiler, but then you get what you pay for. Worcester for me have proven to be reliable and very installer friendly, less call backs = greater customer satisfaction. In addition worcester do cheap rate service calls for fixed price. Some jobs, pcb's etc actualy work out cheaper for worcester to attend as parts are supplied direct to the fitters, at their cost, replacing up to 3 parts at a time in order to affect a repair, i dont think your average joe repair man would be that fair.

I have a Worcester Bosch 24i Junior Gas Combi Boiler. During the last year here are the following problems that I've had with the boiler:

March 2008 " Replaced PCB. Cost £180 for call out (parts included)

September 2008 " Replaced; PCB, Gas Exchange Valve, Heat Detector. Cost £75 for call out (parts included) and 1 years free service contract from Worcester Bosh

January 2009 " Replaced PCB, Transformer, Pressure Valve, Cost (Covered by service contract)

On every occasion I've had Worcester Bosch out to fix my boiler, they say this is a very uncommon problem with this boiler? Just wondering if any one else has had such problems with same boiler. I am aware that there is ongoing discussions about PCB problems, However 3 PCB in under a year???? The engineer told me that normally for a boiler life (25 " 30 years) they would normally replace the PCB only once!

The Worcester 24i is an excellent boiler very reliable. Worcester after care excellent had one fault in the last 4 yrs, Worcester were out the next day and repaired under 5yr. I have had no worries with this our old boiler was a Worcester and was 18yrs old when we replaced it with this plus we get cheaper gas bills now.

Would not recommend the Worcester 24i boiler range or its manufacturer. Most plumbers I asked were reluctant to come and repair it - too many electronics they all say. Worcerster themselves charge high service and call out costs.
