Regular Service Is Best

It's like a car - if you don't look after them, they let you down. Ours was fitted in 2007 and going strong - it had a sticky valve once, other than that no problem (and it lives in the loft). Easy to re-pressurise as heating systems are like tyres, they go down eventually.

This Boiler Is Dangerous

The temperature fluctuates so much...between arctic cold (for days) and suddenly scolding hot. These problems started as soon as the boiler was fitted.

time taken off to wait for someone to fix it (theyve never been there for any appointment ever) only for them to turn up the next day...

A danger if you have little childeren or elderly as unexpected boiling water.

beware!!!

Disappointing All Round.

Three years old and regularly serviced it has broken down and I have no heating or hot water and am unable to use washing machine because of lack of hot water. Although I am dying of cancer Worcester Bosch cannot send anybody for 4 days. Utter misery. These are not cheap boilers and, although I am not having to pay for the repairs as it is still under guarantee, I feel that Worcester Bosch should have more engineers so they can attend more quickly. They must be aware that this is a busy time of year and should plan accordingly. I do not recommend Worcester Bosch boilers as the performance of the boiler and the firm does not live up to the reputation.

Noisy Boiler, 12 Callouts Over 3 Years

We used to have a reliable back boiler which worked fine, never had a problem. On the recommendation of a engineer we got a Worcester boiler fitted. since it was installed we have had problems with the loss of pressure, parts had to be replaced, but by far the worse problem is the noise it makes when heating up the water, this can best be likened to a jet aircraft doing engine run tests. To say it was loud would be an understatement. 12 times in 3 years we have called out the engineer they came, they saw they tweeked something and assured us it will be'OK now'. Fat chance. We wish we had kept the back boiler!

Energy Saving / Money In Pocket

Great boiler replaced a back with this boiler kept a 3 story house warm and no pressure lose on two bathrooms and 1 shower the boiler made the shower in to a power shower it had that much force saved a load of money on gas to worked out 4 years in les gas to pay for boiler and another year and a bit to pay for labour. Would recommend I fitted magnet with filter as used old radiators it protects the boiler took filter out was full three times now seems to be ok just the odd bit .

Not Worth The Money

We had a brand new Worcester Junior 28i Combi Condensing Boiler installed in 2005 on the recommendation of our very trustworthy plumber because he always thought Worcester Bosch were a good reliable make. How wrong could he be. After the first 6 months the timer stopped working so he had to replace the timer. At 4 years old, the boiler developed a leak and cost approx £300 to put right. Every year since then it has been troublesome, cutting out, developing other leaks, pressure constantly dropping. It is now 7 years old and has stopped working completely and are aware it is nearly at the end of it's life!!!! The old boiler was about 25 years old before it went. It has cost us a lot of money and regret the whole thing - why do manufacturers sell things that obviously have not been tried and tested to the max? We shall not be having another one installed.

Greenstar Worcester 28i Condensing Boiler... Rubbish!

bought this house mainly because it had a new boiler along with other 'new' additions. never had one of these biolers before but thought a new boiler by a reportedly good manufacturer sounds good... WRONG it was just over 1 year old when we bought the house, it had already had a replacement thermostat fitted(didnt find that one out till aftre sale went through) well from april 2010 to now i have had over 20days off of work because of this boiler!...first it was too hot, front of casing metal very hot, then it went off and on by its self,.. or not at all! then the pressure went up on its own when it was switched off, then the water temp fluctuated from useless to take the skin off.. then the thermostat had to be replaced AGAIN only 6months from the last one ... then the boiler was over heating and switching its self off again!! then the pressure started going up again on its own.. then it was tripping out and witching its self off again, then the front started heating up and not cooling off so instead of the dial reading 1 or 2 it was going up !! after it was off and continuing to heatup. Now its off AGAIN waiting for anothet engineer to come thats 3 visits in 3 days now and as he sorts one problem another pops up, yesterday he fixed the over heating water, and then last night the central heating switched on by its self WHEN SWITCHED OFF! the boiler just started firing up on its own!!, also the front of the case was bery hot again and the pressure was building up again even after 10hours it is still high it should go down after use but it works on the reverse it goes up when you switch it off. the whole boiler is off at the isolation switch but the pressure is holding at high even 10hrs later.this boiler is off more than it is switched on and it is allways a few days to sort it out so another week off work!! i have lost hondreds if not thousands of pounds waiting in for engineers to come fix this thing!! DO NOT GET ONE OF THESE BOILERS even the engineers from brit gas cant find out why and whats wrong and fix it.i dont think i am the only person with these problems

We too have had a poor experience with Worcester. Our boiler engineer is properly qualified and has been consulting with Worcester. So far he has replaced the PCB, the Gas Valve, the thermostats and given it a full service. Still it doesn't work after nearly 10 weeks of messing about and £400. To say we're fed up is a understatement. Now looking at a replacement boiler and it won't be Worcester!!!!

Does it switch itself on when you turn on any cold water appliance in your house?

I WOULD BE A LITTLE WORRIED ABOUT THE ENGINEERS YOU ARE USEING AND IF IT IS BRITISH GAS IT IS NOT SURPRISEING BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT THAT RELIABLE EITHER. DO NOT KNOW IF YOU HAVE TRIED WORCESTER THEY HAVE THEIR OWN ENGINEERS AND THEY MAY BE ABLE TO HELP YOU

I Have Just Had One Of These Fitted Through The Ho

I have just had one of these fitted through the home energy scheme in wales. As it was a grants scheme I had no say over what boiler was fitted. Its been in for a few days & my only quarm with it is the hot water temperature is set at 55 degrees.. I dont like this as I dont find its hot enough! As a chef I like hot water hot! Eg my thought is if its heated to a higher temp you can use less hot by adding cold? So with this pre set I feel the boiler is on more?

Germs need hot water to be killed so I dont really think this pre set is high enough!

The installation was pretty straight forward.. I had a vertical flue through the roof, all fitting thats came look neat & tidy..

Its very quiet & seems simple to use.

I decided to look online for some reviews but thought many were just technical about things that could go wrong!

Im hoping that it doesnt turn into an expensive headache in a few years time!

Anyway as someone who hasnt payed the full price its really good but If your planning to buy one yourself Id be tempted to go for one with a few more controls as this is were this one is lacking. You can only control the CH on a dial from frost guard setting to max!

If it was a lower priced model I could understand however it isnt cheap to buy compared to equivalents available on the market.

Hope this was of some use!

If that is the case then how come a Baxi combi heats water to 60 degrees and hot water in a cylinder can go up to 80 degrees !!

I am fully trained with honours in advanced catering.

The only safe way to kill bacteria is to immerse equipment in water at a temperature of at least 95 degrees for a minimum of 3 minutes.

If you need to sterelise cooking equipment, it should be done in a dishwasher, not water straight from a household tap!

Mate,

If you knew what you were talking about what you have said would be ok. But you don't. Temperature set at 55c maximum is a requirement by law. You can't shower or bath in 55c - its too hot. Add less cold water and you get the same effect as to what you are complaining about. It cost more to heat water to a higher temperature. Germs aren't killed at the temperatures you are suggesting - depending on which germs you mean I wouldn't want to be drinking your water full stop.

Legionella is the main problem and it does not live in temperatures that the boiler is set at. the people that make these boilers are not fools and the temperature is set for a reason.

Q&A

I have not had the heating on for a few months.Today I fired up my boiler the heating comes on for approximately 20 minutes then shuts down. What should I do?

Antwood1970

How many radiators can I run off a 28i? I now have a loft conversion so will bring boiler up to 13 radiators.

Rachel5512345

I can get hot water in the winter with the heating on but in the summer I can't get much hot water sometimes I have to run the hot tap for 20 mins before I get any and other times hot water just won't come through, my boiler is only just over a year old. What should I do?

rosee123

I have just had a Worcester junior 2.8 Combi boiler fitted. How efficient are they and can they save you money by being more efficient, or is this boiler not up to the mark?

Would a Worcester Bosch Greenstar 28 Junior be big enough to supply heating in a three bedroom bungalow? There are 10 radiators in the house, 61,900 BTU's and one bathroom with bath and separate shower. The bungalow is approximately 1400ft2.
