Maroon Matte Emulsion Has Silk Finish

Both of us painted the walls to get finished quickly, really looking forward to seeing the end result. It took 4 coats to cover without patches.

Thought the paint was still wet, but the next day it still had a silk finish. I wanted a matte finish and trusted that it would be matte as stated on the tin.

The whole job will have to be done again. Not only will the job need to be done again, it means I'll have to travel some distance to buy a different brand of paint that actually is a matte finish.

What should have been a job that took one day turned out to take three days, and it's extra annoying as it will take an afternoon to buy more paint and another day to paint over the silk finish. If you want what it says on the tin, don't buy maroon matte.

All that work and disruption for nothing

I'M FURIOUS

Smooth Finish

What a joke. worst paint I have ever had misfortune to use. Goes on like glue, what is an edge? No hope with this rubbish, either got a duff tin of they should be done under trade description. Avoid at all costs.

Hopeless Coverage White Silk Emulsion

I bought the wicked own brand silk emulsion to cover a pale yellow in my hallway. Put the first coat on and had very little effect. I brushed the joints first and rolled the rest. Put on a second coat and had large areas that we're still dark. It doesn't cover evenly. Put on a third coat and still hasn't covered. I will be returning the remainder of the pot and buying a decent paint for a final coat, no.4!! Avoid this paint and spend a little more on a premium paint.

Have you tried stiring it before use or, maybe the paint has been in an outbuilding and aloud to freeze. Frost totally ruins water-based paints

Poor Quality

Wickes paints such as gloss and undercoat I can recommend but steer clear of their emulsions.

I purchased a 2 tins of cream Matt emulsion, Wickes own brand, not trade.

The object was to cover a bedroom wall of a similar colour, ie cream over buttermilk

The emulsion is like water with very poor covering power.

Usually with other brands like Dulux, I usually add a drop of water in the roller tray to get it to run freely.

When I opened both tins of the Wickes emulsion there was about an inch of liquid on the top and I had to stir the contents for several minutes to obtain a thorough mix.

I had to use two coats to cover my walls, where I had expected to use one.

If you had to emulsion raw plasterboard, I reckon you would need 4 coat.

Waste of money, best avoided.
